Matt Damon Infiltrates Scorsese's 'The Departed'

Matt Damon is in talks to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Departed is Warner Bros. Pictures' English-language remake of "Infernal Affairs" which Martin Scorsese is directing.

Based on a trilogy of popular Hong Kong crime films directed by Lau Wai-keung and Mak Siu-fai, the story revolves around a gangster who infiltrates the police department and a cop infiltrates the gangs at the same time. The two find out that a mole is in each organization and race to find each other's identity.

Scorsese's version shifts the action to Damon's hometown of Boston. Instead of Hong Kong triads, the criminal element is the Mafia.

Damon would portray the mob's mole, while DiCaprio plays the undercover cop.
