Wait a second, no. It never was.

It wasn't random comments that got the GDT closed, it was a clear history of numerous posters believing that the frivolous nature of the thread allowed them to bypass and/or disregard the forum's rules. If it were just 1-2, only those members would be dealt with, but it was a problem over a course of months with the GDT, involving many members.

There's no reason this or any other thread needs to be closed or become a place for worthless spam. It's KMC members that dictate the content of a thread, not the thread that dictates behavior.
