Haitians for example. Haiti is the most poorest country in the world because it's always being devastated; in the path of destruction. So with this in mind, the logical thing to do would be to move but unfortunately that is not possible for some, second option would be to control the current. By placing a large object or objects in the path of the current the waves will change direction. The magnitude of that current will not collect in one spot but dissipate in two. So all the Haitians have to do is put a large rock or rocks in the ocean to absorb the magnitude of the shifting currents.
