Was reading a story about a Russian boy who called his mother, he told her he didn't feel good killing people. She replied, they are not human it's okay to kill Ukrainians.

In war soldiers have to concentrate on the fact that their enemy is just a target, something to kill before it kills them, if they consider them actual people with family and friends then empathy makes them think and that leads to a dead soldier. That's a good mother right there.

That's why I always stayed in the rear with the gear, if I was in the shit I know I'd have to kill someone and that would change me to a degree I would not find tolerable, I learned this from my Grandpa who when he was in the Navy in WWII stayed way to hell out the way of the fighting and did the bare minimum of work so as not to be changed.
