I think in this modern society there are too many traditions dating back to when things were different and now it should be discontinues, like all the holidays, just mark special days as special and not mandatory.

I've been around so many people with the condition. I can guarantee you--his lawyer will try to plead insanity by default. He has no previous convictions, first time offender. Random killing of someone he did not know. He will get a minimum of a few years at best.
