Well supposedly the Earth was purged during the Flood and only a handful of humans were left. according to biblical texts and geological deposits, so in a sense the next purge should be fire either nuclear or from an asteroid.

Well I heard today that for every Galaxy there is an inhabitable planet with earth like qualities

Whatever happened to the plan that disappeared in mid flight? Did they ever find it?

Incorrect, humans are not native to this planet, they originated in a parallel dimension and on that planet the laws of our universe did not work the same. People did not age past maturity, they were resistant to disease, pregnancy had no pain, men had the ability to influence nature, animals had no predator function, and etc. Upon arriving to this earth they lost all of these benefits. However they were gifted one thing, after death they become luminous beings. So you have that going for you which is nice.
