Best way to look at it is that Emma is the Ultimate in Cool. Total ice. Betsy by contrast, is incindiary hot, beyond incandescent. Emma may have made herself a fighter, Betsy by contrast is a born Warrior.

The word has been that Psylocke was destined to be brought back the second Sal was asked to draw what we saw in Hank's eyes. It's also been said that Claremont just wanted to get rid of her shadow-powers, and this mysterious death was the way to do it. I must admit, when she was back, that first panel, I didn't even notice the lack of tattoo.
Psh, Emma could kick Betsy's ass any day...and walk away with her ego as unruffled as her coiffure, too.

As for the tattoo, it was pretty much her defining feature; apart from the hot ninja skillzzzzzz. Erm, yeah.

She died in X-Treme X-Men...Issue 3 or something, it was VERY VERY early. It was this lame sword fight, and she got stabbed by a broadsword. And then her blood was smeared over the wall and spelled "PRONTO", and I think it was Vargas' way of saying "She's only the first to die".
Plus, there was that autopsy.
She was not going to stay dead...only people like Thunderbird I and Cypher die. Ooh, and Sunfire will probably stay dead. Hopefully, though, Sunpyre might come back. She was cool...but then again, ALL Exiles are cool.
She came back, pretty much, like _____ that. We still don't know why, but it's her as far as McCoy and all the technology the Shi'ar has provided them with can tell. Not a clone. Not a hologram. But Betsy Braddock. It's most definetly probably not sure but willing to bet a pack of gum on it got to do with House of M and Wanda...who knows, though.
And Chris Claremont knew she was coming back the second she was stabbed. He planned it all.
He just wanted to get rid of her stupid tattoo-shadow-powers which she never even USED in the first place. And a mysterious death and return was the only way to do it. Amongst other things, but yeah. Crazy ol' CC.

Hmm, yeah, I guess the tattoo was Betsy's thing, and it should have stuck around. But strangely, her purple hair is so much more familiar then before. I think it looks cool...but only if Uncanny gets a set and single artist. Sure, CC may be writing it but I'm sick of a different artist every three or six issues.
Kinda like what made New X-Men annoying after a while..they rented her pages with people like that Igor guy, and Phil Jiminez was kind of weird, too.
hey everybody, someone might have already asked this??? 😮 but what is now the whole psylocke history? she is my favo x-men(woman) but as i am a bit overdue on updating my x-men comic collection ( very hard to find in Belgium, my last comic book store went out of busyness or moved??? 😕 ,but do not fear i found a new one!!!) a think i actually need a an explanation on the whole x- men history 😮 😕 but i'll ask that somewhat else.
