(quietly crosses out mad infected zombie plot)

"What precisely do you mean? Infected how? How badly?"

"Badly enough to be unable to take visitors!" the man yells.

"But this is ridiculous," says Gorlim. "You aren't even manning your defences!"

"We do not have the able-bodied men left to do so!"

Gorlim splutters.

"What IS this? The Great Plague returned? I know of no such plague in these lands in these days."

"We don't know- all we have are the dead and dying to prove it!"

"Damn it..." says Gorlim. "Wait... Hey! Hey! You! Yes! We have an Elvish Healer with us! Maybe he could help?"

There is no reply at first.

"If that is ok, of course," says Gorlim to you, Vardalain.

(Note- you lucky Elves are completely immune to disease, of course...)

"Master Dwarf save your strength, I fear you will need it very soon"

BTW, it's a well-built fortress, Talin. At least you can appreciate THAT...

"Yes, come Talin. Hacking up shrubbery will not heal them of their diseases," Anglomir tells his Dwarf friend.

*Quietly thinks to self of the "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" sketch*

(We are the Knights who say... 😛 )

"It is a nice fortress..." Talin says, looking up from the shredded shrubbery.

(i'm immune?....wohoo)

"i don't know" says a worried Vardalain. He adresses the man again.
"what does this plague exactly do?"
And if VArdalain recognises some symptoms, tries to catalogue the disease..

"Damn Elven immunity to diseases..." Talin says. "If the Elves go in, we shall probably have to stay outside of the fortress!"

Disease, Vardalain, is an affliction of Mortals...

Ok, from the description he gives, Vardalain, it sounds like some type of Cholera. So the first question you ask is about their fresh water supply (because humans sometimes have a dodgy idea of how the world works) but that seems fine. It certainly doesn't sound like a disease that is communicable simply by being near someone who is infected though you would recommend caution to any mortals who go in there.

You should be able to treat this but you would like a closer look.

They will lower the drawbridge for you, Vardalain. You can go in as may anyone else who wishes.

"I can take some of the guard duties upon myself"

"Do you wish me to go in aswell, Vardalain?"

Oh, you can go in if you want, as far as I am concenred- first one in gets the description!

Not a bad idea, Argentis, though you are not sure how long you would have to stay here.

I'll go inside when it is really really necessairy, btw how are my injuries doing?

Oh, that was a nasty blow, Argentis. Frankly you could do with resting in a place like this.

do I think my healing will slow down a lot of I stand guard here, or patrol the area on horseback for a few hours?

You need bedrest, really.

Talin goes in, taking his chances with the illness that has afflicted Baronar's Fortress.

darn it, aah well then I'll follow talin, closely watching I don't get anywhere near infected ppl and I wear gloves all the time and I wear a piece of my cloack, (which by now is just a rag) in front of my nose and mouth

Mimicks Argentis in safety procautions.

As Vardalain says, it doesn't sound communicable in that fashion...
