"Oh, we never let our guard DOWN," says Gorlim. "Arthedain's borders are defended at all times."
"But you will need less men to do so once Embylosse is finished," says Baronar. "Which would mean you could, for exmaple, garrison Cardolan. Based from here."
Gorlim blinks.
"You would agree to that?" he asks.
"Frankly," says Baronar, "I haven't much to negotiate with any more. I still have some concerns over whether I would still be master of my own lands, though."
"Well..." says Gorlim. "Yes... that's really not what it is about. Listen to these others, that is why they are here. It;s not just people and lands Arvedui wants to bring together. It is EVERYONE! Yes?" he asks, giving the players subtle gestures to help him out...
"Sounds like an impossible dream to me," says Baronar. "Everyone has different interests and motives. I doubt you could even get a third of the Lords of Cardolan to even listen, let alone the world. If I did not know better I would say your King were mad."
"Yet you know he is not," says Annphor, speaking up. "And he is rhe rightful ruler of the North."
"Many would disagree, " says Baronar.
"The time for disagreement is over," says Gorlim.
"Is that view enforced by Arthedain steel?" asks Baronar. "That is another common view."
"Arthedain steel has no power over Gondorians and Dwarves and Elves and Northmen," says Gorlim. "Yet these men stand before you."
"Yet their people, as yet, do not..." says Baronar, inviting another comment from any of you...
"So I hear," says Baronar, "Though I see no army of your people coming to help. I mean no offence, I simply have to deal with the realities of life here.
"Still, such serious matters should not depress us unduly; you are here after your journey and that is well." Tables and food are being brought into the Great Hall. Actually, you really are VERY hungry!
"You people look the worse for wear. Sit and tell me all about it. There was trouble on the journey?"
