Morpheus isn't the ONLY guy who frees people, but he is the one who frees NEO. Besides, if we go to mythology, Morpheus was the god who gave men dreams, visions. Morpheus was destined to free Neo, because he was the one who could help Neo to believe he was the One. And his sole purpose is not to get the One and bring him to SOURCE; just because we only know about the Oracle telling him he would find the One, doesn't mean that is the only thing she told him, and that doesn't mean that he doesn't have purpose after fulfilling this purpose.
I agree with Urot. Neo may’ve told Morpheus that the prophecy is a lie, but whether or not Morpheus believes him is something entirely different. The scenes we’ve seen from Revolutions doesn’t really show a defeated Morpheus.
“Neo.” “He fights for us.”
Morpheus may still be right, though. We know the Oracle has “defected” from her normal duties to HELP Neo. The very action which cost her her previous shell. We also know Neo didn’t “believe in that fate crap.” Maybe his rebellious nature, not accepting anything at face-value, is exactly what’ll save humanity.
In M1 Morpheus was willing (in a true zealot-nature) to sacrifice himself to save Neo. But Morpheus must still have another role to play, as the Oracle said “without him we’re lost.” Now, that may’ve been the Oracles manipulative way of getting Neo to start believing in himself and die, so he could reach his “next life.”
Jedhi is right. and Omega has gotten some good points but just think about this for a second.. If Morpheus sacrificed his life for Neo in the first one and then Neo AND Trinity went into save him isn't that kinda foreshadowing that if Neo does in fact get into trouble in Revolutions like Morpheus did in M1, that Trinity and Morpheus will go and save Neo?
Just a theory.
Hodgie> We already know from ETM, that Trinity is the only one who can save Neo. He IS in trouble right now. His digital self touched the Source and is trapped somewhere between the Matrix and the real world (according to the Oracle in ETM.). But Trinity will have to fight her way through Hel(l) to rescue him.
And in the Revolutions trailer what do we see? Morpheus and Trinity (with Seraph) fighting their way through the Merovingians club Hel.
We know, that deleted programs return to the Source. In another thread we’ve discussed the Merovingian and Hades (from the Greek myths). What if, the Merovingian’s Hades aspect is to be taken quite literal? What if all deleted programs pass through his Hel, and that is how he can collect out-dated programs? If Neo’s digital self (which is a program) touched the Source, that could explain how he ended up in club Hel. The Merovingian has collected him.
Did the Archietects room blow up, or was it that the bomb exploded, because Neo was not supposed to be there, seeing as how the door had closed. neo would have had to have flown a really far way, to get to the door, seeing as how the door disappears into a field of stars when Neo appears in the Archie room. Also, think about the time that the door is open. 314 secs. it is a cycle, in the truest sense of the word. pi is approxiamately 3.14, and pi is used to find circumference of circle, the time it takes a circle (cycle) to be complete. Neo broke the cycle, when he chose the left door. I think the Skyscraper blows up because, the choice can only be made once, you cannot go back once you make the choice, or rather, once you understand the choice.
