harry potter sucks

am I the only one that is really angry at the evidence of J.K Rowling copying so much from J.RR tolkien?

eg:

Harry potter drinks butterbeer and the lotr landlord is called butterbur
gollum and dobie both serve masters
Harry potter has a scar that hurts him when this dude is around, frodo gets a scar from one of the ringwraiths that agonizes him when they got near him at the swamp of the dead marshes.

I cant reember the rest, there were two newspaper pages of all the things that she has copied or has seemed to have copied.

Lotr rules forever and harry potter is a disgrace WHOS WITH ME!

And that tree in Chamber of secrets that hits the car reminds me of something in Lotr...

and like whats with the "ohmy god it's harry potter" business, it's not like he saved the race of animals (like we should do) all he did was scare some dude away with his ugliness lol

I've been a fan of the LOTR for over twenty years, I'm huge fan of the movie, infact its my favourite film and book bar none...

I admit that there are a lot of similarities, but you have too remember that almost all fantasy (books, films and so on) take a least something from LOTR because LOTR was what made the genre popular, in fact it's difficult to do any fantasy type thing, without copying Tolkien... you will find that many fantasy books are barely concealed copies of LOTR... I think another important thing to remember is that Tokien took a lot of LOTR from Norse mythology... and because of all this it would be difficult for J.K.Rowling not to copy Tolkien... so yes I agree to a certain extent but I also think it would be unfair to expect Rowling not to copy Tolkien a little when most fantasy does exactly that.

Although you could argue that HP copies LOTR a little too much...

i feel the need to defend j.k rowling a little here... i think she's a fantastic writer, and like so so so many writers, they take their influence from other writers... besides, those similarities that were stated above are not that major.... really! so f***ing what gollum and dobby both serve masters! Tolkien must be turning in his grave on that one! jeez people..... 😑

and before everyone starts goin on at me for havin an opinion like this, i must add that i am a humongous fan of lotr, books and films, and will always say that Tolkien was a genius and in no way will i ever say otherwise....

on the title of this thread... hear hear... i am sick of harry potter, i liked it better before the whole franchise and before i read lord of the rings... cuz before i read that, i was totally unaware of like everything, i thought all of jkr's ideas were totally original which is why i liked it so much... here's one for everyone... wormtounge and worm tail.... both traitors, name coincedence.... i think not!!!!

gosh, this never gets old. people comparing lotr and hp.

hee hee i lov that part in southpark when the sp kids r playin lotr and they walk by some other kids, also dressed up in fantasy getup, talkin wit brit accents, and they ask the new kids wat they r doin and they say "we r playin harry potter' and then theres a pause, and cartman sez "HA! FAGS!" and they walk off.

does anyone else notice how similar the dementors and the nazgul seem to be? that bugged me soo bad. there are a ton of other things that were ripped from lotr, but i seemed to have forced them out of my memory
*to all you hp fans: i too occasionally enjoy hp, and i have read all 5 books 2 times, + i do admit that jk rowling has talent and that most fantasy writers should copy tolkien in a sense because he is a TOTAL genius, but sometimes i wonder if rowling went a tad over the edge

I think both lotr and hp are special in their own way and shouldn't be compared..
