Yes, but so far it hasn't been said when exactly he gets scars from the wars.

Do we know he does get scars from the wars, then?

I heard from a couple of sources that say that, but they haven't been confirmed I don't believe.

most of them are probably acquired when he falls into the volcano/smelting pit.
