Not sure about Oestrogens. But I definately meant Estrogen, as in female produced steriods.

Just asked my father, the biology lecturer and that's spelt with an O.

As in oestrum, Greek for impulse or frenzy.

Mind you, Edna is the expert here, so I don't know hy I bothered to check.

All I know is that I DEFINATELY meant Estrogen...... And that it is the currect word for what I meant....

Best define exactly what you mean... I'm having difficulty finding the reference...

I meant the female steriods produced by the female body..... Jeezz, talk about make a fuss out of nothing

But here's the link, just so yopu don't bust something...

No, that should definitely be oestrogen, as Edna can tell you... it's a Greek medical term, so it should be multi-national... could be an American convention.

Ush, does it REALLY matter. Besides I found that spelling on a packet of birth control pills....

OK, Oestrogen and Estrogen are the same thing with the Estrogen being the predominant spelling in the USA...

However, for the purposes of MY POST, the term "Estrogen Brigade" is the prevelant usage...

Don't get shirty, RC. It matters to me, thanks, because grammar is one of my things.

Well Oestrogen is the correct way of spelling it. And if not then you had better start telling some exam boards bloody quickly before we all fail our exams in the summer. However I am wondering whether Estrogen is the American spelling as both Dim and Gundy seem to think it is spelt with an E. But like i said lets please not argue over this. Both you guys appear to be right.

It was a joke, not an insightful essay into female hormones.

🙄

Blimey, they fail you for spelling, Edna?

Like I said, I just took the spelling from the dusty box of pill in the cupboard, I wasn't expecting everyone to get all Union Jack about it.

Well if we use Oestrogen in the essay question and spell it wrong, yes.

I think it is an american thing by the way. Like Foetus and fetus.

Yeah, but that's a derived word, not an extracted one... never mind

It is.

NOTE FOR USH: I use AMERICAN spellings sometimes - Deal with it!

Also, sometimes I make spelling mistakes and typos, they don't need you correcting like some over zealous school mistress - Deal with it.

Everybody happy? Yes? Good.

Hey- you deal with me correcting you if I so chose, please.

Guys can you please stop this? It's so annoying! I wishI hadn't said anything!

Sigh... I guess so... I'm sorry, RC.

Whatever. Just one more reason to not come here I guess.

Forget it.

Oh RC don't be like that! He said he was sorry! Can't you two just leave one another alone for one day?
