ABC's 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter will continue despite star John Ritter's death last Friday at the age of 54.

The final three episodes of "8 Simple Rules…" completed by Ritter will air sequentially beginning with the season premiere on Tuesday, September 23 8/7c, says ABC. Each of these episodes will open with a special introduction by members of the cast.

After the three episodes, the series will go into repeats while writers retool it and production starts. Future episodes will then take viewers into the Hennessy household as they experience the loss of a beloved father and construct a new life.

"Everybody recognizes that John loved that show... He'd have wanted the show to continue," Lloyd Braun, chairman of ABC Entertainment Television Group, said today.

It hasn't been decided if the death of Ritter's character, Paul Hennessy, will mirror what happened to the actor. While the idea of recasting Ritter's role was quickly rejected, new characters will be added at some point, said ABC.

Yeah that would be awful, but who knows if the show would be as good without John, I felt awfully bad when I was changing channels and saw old Three's Company reruns.

The re-runs were a tribute to John by Nickelodeon.

this show will fail without john theres no way its going to be good now the oldest girl will still be a good site to look at though

Yeah, it's gonna get cancelled after a few episodes without him.

oh great I love that show i was gutted when ritter died, I didnt even know he was dead! poor guy!

yeah did u guys see the fare well show for him this week it was very good and the kids on that show really liked him because the two datughters reffered to him as there second father and they luved him but the boy rory didnt say ne thing but he did a impression of john by doing sumthing with hois glasses i bet that rory kid is a reall dork in real life maybe cause he seems so quite

Well it's either that or he's really hurt because of John's dead. When a person I know dies I preffer to stay quiet.

It's not the same, it's went seriously downhill for me.

it's filled with two lil spoiled slutty sisters and one tries to be bad ass but is a jack ass and the blonde is...well...living up her reputation...like a blonde does (WHORE)
