Well, from what I remember from the Connery movies, he was rather emotional involved with the girls he had (that girl he plays Chemin du Fer with in Dr No returns later on). If only they got Lazenby's wife a decent dead (saving his life or something) ...
But Lazenby doesn't act like Connery, say, most people don't read the books so they don't know ho the "real" bond is.
In example, when he knocks out that "gatecrusher" in the hotel, he has kaviar in the suite, he just takes the biscuit, puts kaviar on the knife and almost throws it to his biscuit, that's something Connery would never have done. details, I know, but it's what I notice.
I absolutely dislike Moore-movies cause of how he acts and making it too humour
than up to Dalton, he had the difficult task to get Bond back to a decent movie standard and got kicked out for that
and than Pierce made his entry in my fav Goldeneye, playing the stiff-assed Brit again.
I just want a guy playing a cool, not too humorous (don't forget the puns) brit who doesn't fall in love
I think that the best James Bond is both Connery and Brosnan - each for their own era they fit the role best. I don't know about the whole Roger Moore timeframe because I was too young. Watching the Roger Moore Bond movies now I find he's too corny - not the "stiff-assed Brit" someone mentioned before. I loved the Connery movies but find he has become more handsome as he has aged. Brosnan adds his own "flavour" to the Bond persona - and I think he has done well also. I must admit - I would like to see him to be a little more "human" in showing the slightest bit of tender emotion.
Overal, I think that although the books have Bond being a certain way - the movie audience decides what they like according to their own frame of reference or what's acceptable in society (like the difference in Dalton's version of Bond) even if they've read the books. Everyone comes away from reading the same book with something slightly unique to their own point of reference. That's just human nature.
Connery and Brosnan = tie on this one. Would love to see them work together on a Bond film (ah, those rumours).
I'm happy to see Pierce Brosnan in almost any movie. Anyone seen his movie "Evelyn" - that's another string altogether..... 😉

Percisely. And that's why he didn't return. The only reason that OHMSS did well and stands out today is because it's the only Bond that pits Blofeld and Bond together in a one-on-one situation. YOLT introduced the face of Blofeld, but OHMSS brought Blofeld's character out more in depth. And Terry Salavas protrayed Blofeld so that is an added bonus. Well, at least in 1969 when he was extremely popular.
