Does Pippin Die?!!?!

I've just read the part in the book where they say that pippin "takes his last look" and I can't bear that he actually would DIE!?!?! Can anyone confirm/deny this? I've read most of the other posts about "who dies in ROTK" but no mention of pippin in there.....

yeah, but after he goes into battle (right near the end before frodo's last part), he kills a smaller troll and the troll lands on him and he dies.....

No he doesn't, he is found by gimli who sees his foot sticking out under the Troll body after the battle. He does have serious injuries and has to stay in bed for quite a while.

Pippin does definitely NOT die... he'll live for another 65 years...

PIIPIN IS FOUND, LIKE IT WAS SAID BEFORE AND HE IS HEALED AT THE CAMP OUTSIDE THE GATES OF MORDOR. WHEN HIM AND SAM AND FRODO AND MERRY GO BACK TO THE SHIRE, HIM AND MERRY ARE HAILED AS GREAT WARRIORS, BECAUSE THEY CONTINUE TO WEAR THEIR ARMOR FROM THEIR COUNTRIES. (MERRY=ROHAN, PIPPIN=GONDOR.)

You just can't kill off somone like Pippin. Or Merry for that matter. Those two and Fred and George are the best duos ever.
