So I'm sort of confused... if it's all supposed to take place 2 years later, is the Aeris/Aerith water burial scene a flashback? Or does it go from the begining of 7 through two years later or what?

Nope, there are many flashbacks, basically just to show off the graphical capabilities. Sephiroth in Nibelhem, that's a flashback, as is Aerith's burial. Surely there are a few more, but they're not showing them yet for the obvious reason that there's a movie coming out, and why spoil everything? Although the three silver-haired men are new, I'm assuming most, if not all people in this thread have played the game. It takes place two years later, as the Star-Scar Syndrome slowly wrecks havock over the Planet, not much known about it as of now, but it's thought to be some sort of disease related to the lifestream, and/or meteor.

I like to call this my "Let's ride my motocycle while being shot at by multiple assailants and deflect them with my larger-than-life-sword" screenshot. 😄

Definetly does, can't really mistake them as anybody else. The red hair's a dead giveaway, plus the translations in the Jump magazine allude to it.
