Both of you pull at once, and the sabre flies into your hand, Gundy.

(Gamesmaster shakes head sorrowfully)

Sorry, guys, you kinda walked into that one...

Your assailant smiles- and leaps upwards. BOY those things can jump high with the Force! He goes out of sight.

At this moment, the door opens, and guards come in, many of them, accompanied by the Elder. They see the dead guards on the floor- and you holding the sabre.

"Shit!" Xeth says. "Elder, it was not us! One of your Council Members...he attacked us! Raving about Kuylen, the one that plans to kill you and take over Zeiton!"

(I hope that's a sharp reminder of how Dark Siders can make intelligent plays- it's not always just violence from them...)

The Elder steps forwards, shaking his head sorrowfully. He motions the guards he has brought with him to take charge of you.

Also with the Elder are two other Council Members- including your original captor, still stripped of his sabre.

"You must believe us! And why did you take his lightsaber?" Xeth asks, gesturing to the original captor. "Because he merely heard us?"

The one who lost his sabre says something urgently to the Elder, but the Elder waves him away.

"Just as I expected you to behave," says the Elder to you, Xeth. "Just as the Jedi always did. And now it has begun."

"Always did? Obviously you've come into contact with Jedi before..."

"This planet has, to its cost. And now we are paying again for your broken promise."

"Broken promise? What promise? You must know that the Jedi of today did not know anything of this planet. We had to retrieve the coordinates from a contact of the Dark Jedi."

Ush, am I still holding the 'smoking gun' ?

"If that is true," says the Elder, "that is extremely remiss of them, and your lives are forfeit for that error. But I doubt it is true. The promise was made and recorded in perpetuity. But as ever, the Jedi fail us. And now WE pay the price."

He gestures at the dead bodies.

"Two dead. How many more?" He motions to the guards and barks at them. They escort you away.

"But I have no idea of the promise, whatever it is! I have not done anything wrong!" Xeth hollers at the Elder. "You hear me! Nothing! You know it to be true, but you have grown cold because of whatever promise the Jedi of old made to your people!"

"You have come!" the Elder calls after you. "That is wrong enough. Begone! You will be dead within hours."

Ten minutes later, you are back in your cell.

First things first- a THIRD force user? And now it is almost certain that the entire COuncil are force users. How many werw at the trial? Two dozen of them?

Two dozen force users in a single generation on a planet? Impossible!

"Do you think that maybe all of them can use the Force, Master Gundark? Otherwise, I don't think the Elder would be this wary about our arrival and our stay. But that's impossible! We're lucky if we find a recruit in a century, but they've got about two dozen right now!"

Something is certainly very wrong here.

"I don't understand either, Xeth," Kellan replied, distraught over the Zeitonian's declaration of 'Master Kuylen'. "These people must have lived on the surface at some point in time, before the planet dried up, or whatever happened to it, then migrated below when it became inhospitable. At least that's my best guess. How many of them came to possess a working knowledge of the Force...I don't have a clue. But we can be sure of one thing. Kuylen has gotten to them first."

"I think I have an idea on how they have a working knowledge of the Force..." Xeth says, pondering for a moment. "If Kuylen thinks that the Mausoleum is here, then the Sith must have been here at some point. And if they Sith were here, so were the Jedi to combat them. If the Sith and Jedi were here, there must have been some sort of war going on. Probably part of the Sith War. And then, the surface is pretty desolated...did you notice that it is not sand, but grit and dirt? The Elder spoke of a promise that the Jedi made. It was probably a promise to help them rid themselves of the Sith...or heal there planet of any damage down to the ecosystem..."

Question- if the Jedi came here, why is the Mausoleum here? The Jedi never found it after all, and it would seem odd to put it in the middle of a battlefield.

"The war must have been going on on the surface..." Xeth continues pondering. "Maybe Demnos built his Mausoleum down here somewhere, to hide it from the Jedi. But then the Zeitonians would know where it is, but the Elder either was playing dumb or did not know of it..."

It doesn't say much for the Jedi if they concluded a war here but left the Sith behind.

But then again, you DO know that the Sith thought this place important all the way up to the final Sith War- as this location was on the Astrolabe.

"Hmm..." Xeth ponders so more to himself before calling to the guards that he'd like to talk with the Elder...if there are any guards...
