"Forget her," Kellan barked, helping to pull the Geonosian to his feet. The sensation of dread she had been feeling was nearly palpable. "We're heading straight for Kuylen. Now." She stepped to the doorway and gripped its edges with trembling hands, reaching with the Force, filling her mind with the outline of Kuylen's presence, seeking him out amongst the chaos in this dark place.
She reached further and further with the Light, letting the Force guide all her senses, seeing with closed eyes and touching far more than cold stone.
Ok, Gundy, you head down a promising corridor- the main central corridor down which Marcus was taken earlier.
And you emerge into the central area- little knowing that MArcus is held captive all the way up the top.
But as you are now here, you can also see the viewing holes that spy upon the vast crystalline structure that this room is built around. And you, Gundy, recognise what it is at once- at roughly the same time that it finally clicks for Maruc as well.
It is a Baradium crystal- a VAST Baradium crystal, and that can only mean one thing- a Sith Vengeance weapon.
Baradium is the active ingredient in a thermal detonator- which is to say, such weapons (which can clean out rooms) basically use a microscopic fragment of Baradium. A crystal this size- which must have taken decades to accumulate- is several million million times larger.
As it happens, the Sith developed such things to use against OTHER Sith. They had a single purpose only- they were an extreme method of self-destruct.
If that crystal blew, it would create a staggeringly huge explosion that would strip this planet of its biosphere- nothing would live, nothing at all, above or below ground. The idea behind having such a device was to discourage other Sith Lords from coming to take what was yours- "Try it, and EVERYONE dies." Typical pointlessly destructive Sith thinking, but sadly effective.
Gundark- Kuylen is not here. This might be the control room, but it is not the centre of power.
Marcus, Takuan has gone to head down a level to check out if anything is below, so convinced are they all that you are playing some trick on them.
"Now then," says Saar. "Where were we?" Chion ambles slowly over to the controls at this top level. "Leave those alone," says Saar, vaguely, as he picks up a laser probe he intends to use on you, Marcus.
No, but that's because she is looking for Kuylen, not Marcus, Roan.
There were some other passageways before this room that led downwards, Gundy... your instincts are flagging those up as interesting...
-
"You know what I want to know," says Saar. "I want to know where you friends are, and what your plan is... Chion!"
Chion has moved over to the controls again.
"Kuylen told us to leave those alone!" There is a short pause.
"Kuylen isn't here..." says Chion. And after the short pause... an uncomfortable silence. Saar's hand strays around to his back, where his lightsabre is.
Roan, Xeth, and Gundark- all of you are almost stopped dead in your tracks by an incredibile instinctive feel of POWER down in the darkened corridor ahead of you, that slopes downwards...
-
"Chion," says Saar, "we don't have any time to mess around..." Saar takes a step towards the alien.
"I'm not messing around," growls Chion. "I've never been more serious."
It happens almost too fast for you to see, Marcus. Saar drops his hand and draws his lightsabre- but by the time he brings it around to his front, Chion- showing that surprising turn of speed that caught you out when you fought him- has dashed forwards, and catches Saar's arm in a vice-like grip. Saar tries to edge his sabre into position but he has no chance against Chion's enormous strength. Chion's face breaks into a horiffic grin, as slowly he starts to foce Saar's right arm back in upon itself- bending it the way the elbow is not meant to go.
There is a sickening crack of bones as Saar's arm splinters open, and Saar screams...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Not a chance in hell... Marcus. Just as in AOTC, these things keep Jedi secure.
Gundark, Xeth and Roan, you have just stepped into a large circular chamber. Gundy, you are playing out exactly something you saw in your vision. You thre Jedi step forwards, towards the Sith Lord in black robes in the centre of the room, whose chanting voice is reverberating all around. Two enormous doors at the far side of the room are starting to shake...
Marcus, Saar collapses to the ground. Chion turns back to the controls...
... and keys in the activation sequence of the vengeance device.
He's insane, Marcus. There can be no other explanation.
