Storm is a mutant...
Her mutation is to psychically link to space and weather phenomenon.
Storm's mutation is that she can control all aspects of the weather. While this makes her an Omega class mutant, with the potential to become a being of pure elemental energy, this has not happened yet. If and when she ascended to this form, she would be practically a goddess. She also has the potential to become a very powerful sorceress, but she has chosen not to follow this path. In short, not a goddess, just an uber powerful mutant.

By effect of her connection with the weather patterns of the Earth she can control moisture to an extent, but by saying that "Storm can control the moisture in the atmosphere around her, and thus the weather" severely limits her capabilities, such as viewing objects in the electromagnetic spectrum and wind control/generation.

As it quite clearly points out in her spotlight she is psychically linked to weather patterns. It incorrectly (imho) says "of the earth". I'm positive she's displayed control over weather on other planets/in other dimensions.Admittedly the original question is a good one - what EXACTLY is her power? As "weather" is very much a human concept as opposed to a scientific one, (What we call "the weather " is made up of many factors - temperature, moisture, electron behaviour etc.) how has she managed to have control, over all these (sometimes unrelated) factors...
Of course, at the end of the day you've just got to say "it's comic book, suspend your disbelieve, these guys are flying for chrissakes"

Storm's powers are tied to this planet. She requires time to recalibrate her internal senses and manipulating abilities when placed in a new environment.

She cannot use them in space, but she can use them on the blue area of the moon.
She can fire lightning out of her hands or call it from the sky.
She can generate wind from stillness, or stillness from wind. She can cause huge weather systems to erupt from a clear blue day.I would say that the nature of her power is to psionically sense, generate, and control atmospheric pressure. After all pressure systems influence Earths weather patterns more than any other phenomenon in nature.
1) With atmospheric pressure she can cause static generating friction in the air and moisture molecules around her hand to generate a lighting bolt.
2) She can generate pressure in a room like Cerebro and cause the air to swirl violently.
3) Pressure could change the temperature of the air.
4) The "EM Detection" used in X-Treme could have been the sensing of pressure related to electrons.
5) Change the pressure pattern of the sky over New York, forcing airborne evaporation together, causing more and more friction between water molecules, producing lightning from static and rain from the molecules condensation.

Storm is a mutant, who was worshipped as a Goddess in Kenya by the local tribes because her mutation dealt with the weather patterns of the Earth. She cannot use her powers in space, but she can on the moon because the moon is in orbit around the Earth, and thus still a part of it.She is psionically linked to the earth, and must retain an inner harmony of body and spirit to use her powers. When she returned from space, the Earth rejected her. I think there was another time when she was disconnected from her powers because her spirit and body were thrown out of balance.
So, not a goddess, but a mutant whose powers are very spiritual. Or at least that's my perception.

Actually Storm does have powers in Space. In Uncanny X-Men #165 she summons the powers of the Galactic Core to destroy the Brood Embryo inside her (and died and merged with the Acanti). She can also control ride the solar winds (uncanny x-men #99 and again in #164), and according to What If Storm was Phoenix (tho I dunno if that counts since its a What If) she can control the Solar Flare too."If we do our best, if we try to make the difference we hope for, then the future will take care of itself. 🙂 Different people, different views... regarding who and what Storm is.
I swear they need Halle Berry as Storm she plays her most and for the people who didn't read the comics she does portray the character of Storm. And so what if she is demanding I would to she probably doesn't want them to just find someone else if they think she is a good actor-which she is- they need to add her. And if Gambit is in the 3rd movie they definitely need a Storm in there. .and I too agree if they add a different actor it will get confusing atleast for me. -breathes- o.0 off topic: What is with Creed.... does he have an obsession for the weather witch or what -.0
I heard there is a possibility that there will be 5 x-men movies along with the spiderman series. I and hopefully others think it would be really cool to introduce another villain within the storyline besides phoenix(not the 3rd movie because everyone knows phoenix will be the main person in there but maybe the 4th) I would love to see the Shadow King within the plot or maybe mr.sinister
Storm Has It Hard
Storm has it bad.
She goes to a town and she gets mis treated because shes a mutant, so she goes to another then she gets abused because shes a woman, and finaly she goes to the last town who hates black people.
Poor Storm, She use to be liked by many people in the marvel vs dc thing she one now they saying she sucks and wonder woman is better.
They say shes very old.
