it's random. just send jean against characters she does well against. first she will become phoenix, then her powers will increase until she can't control them anymore. then she will fly away to one of the empty locations (a villain has to be already defeated for this to work) and appear as a villain for the rest of the team to defeat.
Hey, everybody.
I bet a lot of you would like to see a new version of X-Assault, right? Well, I'm not saying anything definite, but I will say that it would be worth your while to check out the Yahoo group to see the big news.
http : // uk . groups . yahoo . com / group / X-AssaultTheInnerCircle /
(I can't post direct links.) But it's a link to the Yahoo group of X-Assault where there has been some recent activity toward continuing X-Assault. Again, I make no promises, but....I'M SURE IT'S WORTH YOUR WHILE, hint hint. 😉
I also strongly urge you to contact Jim Lemoine (the creator of X-Assault) at [email protected], and tell him how badly you want to see X-Assault return.
Also, the most important point of all:
SPREAD THE WORD. Try to be discreet, but get the word out to ANYBODY who ever played X-Assault. The more people we get on board with this cause, the more likely things will start happening....
If theres anyone that still reads this thread, be happy to find out that version 097 might be coming out soon!!!!!

Subject: X-Assault the Inner Circle At long last!
Hey everyone!
A secretive and enigmatic programmer who happens to have access to
Jim's X-Assault notes, scripts, codes, etc., has announced that he is
going to get to work on the next incarnation of X-Assault! That's
right, folks: X-Assault v0.97 is now officially in development!
What this means:
-- Don't expect a download link by tomorrow morning. This is a lengthy
process, and its low-profile nature might mean a little extra time to
wait; we're talking about a couple months, at least. But who really
cares about waiting a little while for something like this??
-- As most of you know, the previous, officially unreleased, version
(0.96) was a beta, and as such, may contain bugs here and there. One
of the most direct ways you can help out during this development
process is, well, by playing the game.* Play it, test it, and note any
bugs you encounter. And when you do this, please be DETAILED. Detailed
does not mean "My hero name turned into 'A Bad Sign'!" Detailed
means, "It was the third fight of the game, Cyclops, my team leader,
was up against Mojo, just after the first round where I hit him with
Energy and he missed me completely, the hero named turned into 'A Bad
Sign' and stats went to zero, but the graphics didn't change." Give as
much info as you can, and report the bugs; you can email them to me or
one of the other people in contact with this elusive programmer, or
you can just post them. (And it doesn't have to be here; there are
other forums where interest in X-Assault still flourishes.)
-- If you have suggestions you want to present for consideration for
the new version, go ahead and suggest them. There's no guarantee that
what you request will be included, but it's probably worth it to at
least make the suggestion. However, I can tell you right now that
ideas about "hidden teams" will not be very successful, so you don't
need to bother with those requests.
-- According to the aforesaid mysterious contact, the latest
"Chapter-ed" design of X-Assault--which you can see in the beta--was
really meant to be divided into "Books." (To give more of a 10-issue
maxiseries feel.) With this in mind, the hope is that when you enter a
password at the beginning of the game and jump to a particular
chapter/book, the game will display that book's "cover" (which would
have something to do with that book--e.g., Age of Apocalypse for Book
2, Jean/Phoenix/ Dark Phoenix for 3, the Exiles/Doom/ the Fury for 4,
etc. etc.). In his words, the covers "could be simple dramatic poses
of relevant characters, generic battle scenes, or if somebody was
feeling really ambitious, a rendition of a key scene from the chapter".
Anyone who wants to have their name go down in X-Assault fame (because
the artist(s) will definitely be credited in the game) can submit art
to one of us, or on a general forum such as ComiXFan.
-- One final thing. You guys curious what characters will be
appearing/returning in this version? Well, check the "Characters"
photo album on this Yahoo group. 🙂
Good job on getting active on this project guys, and be sure to
continue your support for Jim's talented and secretive friend!
Johnny
* If you don't have a copy of the beta, email/post a request, and I'm
sure someone who has the copy will be happy to pass it along.
At Long last, 097 might, Might come out, meaning X-assault may continue at last!
