Scream

Why do everyone like that movie? it is not scary, it is not funny, and it is unoriginal. Some even call it a masterpiece, COME ON! What is so speciel about it that it makes even hard core horror fans like it?

I just find it extremely entertaining, i know that its fasionable to bash it if you are a horror fan, but that doesnt matter to me, the original was very different and creative when it came out, its unfortunate it spawned such horrible sequels and ripoffs that nearly ruined the horror genre. But that can't be held against the original.

I actually just watched it the other day for the first time in several years, and its great to see all the little acknowledgments to other horror movies in scream. They reference alot of obscure ones like I spit on your grave and what not.

Again, i just like it because i think its really fun to watch, i agree, it is not scary in the least, but most horror movies arent. I do find it a humerous little parady though.

I hate it too, it's just sooo amature horror

well, you shouldnt look at it as horror, it was meant to be a paradoy of horror movies in general. And it wasnt amatuer, it was made by wes craven, one of the pioneers of the horror genre.

well he didint do a good job

that is debatable, teh original was unarguably creative at teh time of its release. It also helped make the horror genre a bit more mainstream and get some more people into horror movies.

well, I respect your opinion, but I just don't understand you. But maybe I also hate it because, when i talk to people around me in my class for example, they say that scream was very scary, a classic, best horror movie ever, and so on.
And then I tell them about TCM for example and they don't even know what I am talking about, or those who have seen it just couldn't take it siriously, and they say it was a crappy movie. It just makes me so angry, and it makes me hate scream even more.

well i try not to judge movies by the type of people who like them (which is indeed hard to do), im well aware that many idiots like scream, because it was their only experience in the horror genre. But if you look at it a certain way, their are probably many people who watched scream and used it as a gateway movie, maybe it got them into horror films to the point where they will go out and search for other horror movies, and maybe those peopel will become big horror buffs like us.

know what you mean Dario, same shit here

they don't even know what real horror is

that is true, but you can't hold that against the film itself, it just reached a more mainstreem audience, which is actually hard to do when it comes to horror films. It is a shame that so many idiots acknowledge it as the best horror films ever when they have only seen like 4.

Wes Craven has made a lot of good films, but he has also made some crappy things. And I nearly lost my respect for him when he made number 2 and number 3, what the hell was that about.
But when I see some of his old movies I beginn to like him again. I love Last House on the Left, Hils Have Eyes, The Serpent and the Rainbow, and A Nightmare on Elmstreet, and Wes Cravens new Nightmare is also ok movies.

yeah, a movie like scream just shows what great range he has. He can make a movie that will appeal only to the hardcore fans of the genre, and a movie that will appeal mostly to those uninterested in the genre.

Well... The reason why I love horror movies is that most of them (the horror movies I see) are made with love, when the director don't care how big his audience will be, but he cares about the movie and he mades it the way he think it shall be and not the way a lot of teenagers, that don't know anything about movies, think it shall be.

well i dont think he made scream with them in mind, it just happened to have a more mass apeal cuz it was more entertaining then alot of the genre movies.

yeah but why did they make 3? it was obviously popular!!

yeah, because alot of people found in entertaining, which it was.

That was.........interesting. Scream well....wasn't what I'd call scary. But I thought it was pretty humourous and it was indeed very entertaining. I'd give it 5/5. Mainly because Randy was awesome.

I miss KiwiBloom. One of the few other "Hackers" fans on this board. Where art thou, Kiwi?
