Well Smodden, it WOULD be frightening to the hobbit or the audience (I myself, who is terrified of spiders, would have fainted on the spot!) But that's not the point. The point is that she's smaller than what most people perceived she would be.

But I agree with you in saying that PJ hasn't let us down so far. And I don't think he will in ROTK. So if this is indeed Shelob or not, it wouldn't matter; I would definitely still enjoy watching every minute of ROTK!

It's gotta be Shelohb, and I'm sure it is a lot bigger than we all can tell from this pic.

bout the topic... I also liked the other pic of Shelobs Lair where we can just see kinda her shadow, and the whole pic is in a blue color... looks cool 😎

pretty good for a CG creature. i hope it looks realer in the movies lol. i wish there was some way to make CG things look a little more realistic though : /

Dunno how I'm gonna get throught ROTK, Arachnaphobic.....Shelob would give me nightmares, it could be Shelob in the pic...all you can really do is be patient and wait......hehe....can't do it

i truly believe that THAT is shelob, i mean look at her! AMAZING! Theres alot more to her than what we can see in the trailers and pics, im sure shes bigger than that...the body shows like shes huge! If its her offspring, then wow..that would be awesome too, and id be thrilled to see how big shelob is, but im highly convinced its shelob! Wow! what a amazing job! Im real scared of spiders though, but shelob looks ABSOULUTLY stunning!

I think that it is just the right size.....I mean you don't want PJ to go too far and make this huge giant 100 ft. tall......i think that it makes it clear in the books that it is a "huge spider".....WHICH IT IS...........i think he did a good job on it.

Somebody official already stated that this was Shelob, or at least her head.

PJ may have just put a shelob offspring there to make us think it was real and then when we see the real huge shelob we will be shocked to see it is different
