What happened before the matrix?

it is not necessarily a PREQUEL, as it is more of a history of the matrix, and sets up Reloaded...

As JediHDM says, TheAnimatrix isn’t really a prequel. One of the stories (or the two parts of Second Renaissance is). One takes place just before Reloaded, another sometime between M1 and M2 (about the Kid), and one is about Trinity, but when isn’t known. And then there is a handful which are just stories in the Matrix Universe with no connection to the main-characters.

you should see it!!! I loved the second renaissance, it rocked and reminded me of the older manga anime movies!!! was well done!

FFOTO was the best! (for action, at least) the rest focused mainly on anomalies and such in the matrix, but they were still good
