I've decided that they are hunted; like wolves, men are more scared of the myths than the actual creatures, though the sogns do attack from time to time.

Galder and co. land and there are several dead ones in the starport/fish dock. 😄

Going to go with my idea of them occasionally attacking the ports/docks/tower thingies you mentioned? 😂

In fact, I think a bunch of them with sink the boat that Galder and co. intend to ride on, just as it pulls into port.
