"I vote to go down to the planet, Avalar. I am a master with the sabre as is my uncle. I haven't seen much dueling on this mission. If I die, I die fighting for the Republic and all it stands for." Lance tells his group members. "Anyone care to join me? I can definatley use some help down there judging by the sabre wounds on these dead men."
Ok, then, action stations!
The transport to Avalar has already landed in the landing bay that you guys are parked in. You quickly hop on-board and give the pilot instructions where to go. He slips through a gap in the large battle outside and descends into the Avalar atmosphere..
The shuttle shakes and rattles and seems like it is about to fall apart. The stellar-imbued atmosphere of Avalar is thivk like treacle, and for a moment you doubt if it will make the journey. Then there is one great shudder and the shuttle passes through the static forcefield that is the boundary of the small area of artificial atmosphere around the dig site, and all is well.
The shuttle lands next to another, similar one, and you get out. It is VERY cold, but the artificial atmosphere is bearable.
This whole planet is just ice; a huge block of ice. But a tunnel cuts through to a dark wall nearby. The edge of the Monastery.
Gundark turned to Lance as he spoke. The cold that pressed into her bones didn't come from the frigid air alone.
"I'm sure the path to the inside will not be an easy one," she told him. "If there isn't some test to pass to gain entrance there will probably be some hidden traps along the way." She shivered slightly. "Don't place all your focus on one point. Be mindful of what is around you."
Yerss is right, this place is unlikely to be designed to slaughter the students BUT... you have a bad feeling, Gundark., and it's NOT just that this place is so evil.
You come to the fortifications. This place might have been a Monastery but it has been built like a fortress. The battlements are strange, built to withstand attacks from lightsabre-wielding opponents. The walls are built high, and have roofs. Small slits are in the sides and ceilings, wide enough to admit a sabre but not a person. This way a defender can fend off opponents scaling the walls, yet you cannot force leap over the battlements
It wasn't enough, though. There is a large breech in the walls through which you can easily clamber.
The way in is covered in a tunnel of ice, but it is stable. Large status line either side of the final approach, of long forgotten Sith 'heroes'. ALL of you are physically stunned for a moment by the grreat feeling of dread forboding that emanantes from the entrance. Strange.
Remarkably, after millenia buried beneath the ice, the unseen power systems for this plae work perfectly, and the doors swing open in complete silence.
A large great hall is revealed, mostly in black. Two staircases on either side of the room lead up to a balcony. You can see no other way on.
"How can we not go? We are already here. I am ready to risk losing my life for the Republic. Whatever is going on here needs to be stopped, and we are the Jedi who will have to do it." Lance points out. Anticipation rolls off of the young swordsman as he says this. It is obvious that he is angry for not being included in any real hand to hand combat with the Dark Jedi.
