Went to the pub yesterday to watch the match, 0-0 in the end but England go through top of the group.

As a Villa fan I was ashamed of Alpay's behaviour, what an arsehole. I can't believe DB missed that penalty, I found it very ironic that he's doing that rugby ball keepy-upy practice advert on telly and then managed to score what would have been an excellent field goal yesterday, had he actually been playing rugby! 🙄

I got pretty drunk and England go through automatically, all's well that ends well. 😄

There were no spirits last night, just several pints of the good stuff.

As I was walking through the very packed pub I got knocked and my pint did that funny thing where loads flys directly up and then falls back down. To my horror it soaked the back of some huge chap in front of me, I tried to rub it in with a quick, "scuse me chief", as I placed my hand on him but I think he knew I'd soaked him. He gave me this harsh look and all I could do was try not to laugh as my mates were smirking at me.

Good job we won though, he said hello to me later on. I wonder what he'd have said if we'd lost... 😕

Unfortunately you'll have to put up with France Kes... The French teams won all its plays against tiny nations... Now we're goingto Portugal and we're going to find out that we are not good enough during the friendlies and during the championship... *shakes his head*

France do look very strong though

Thats another team I'd rather not have. No offense G.P. I love you man but I hate teams that are carried by the referees.

Because of these plays, yes... The team has great offensive players (Henry, Trézeguet, Zidane, even Pires) but we have no really good central defender... I won't tell it's a bad team, because I think it's one of the best we've ever had. But we're no match for the moment for really good teams.

I hope the team will make me wrong during the next friendly plays... I'm sure it won't do the same performance as at the 2002 World Cup, but I do think we cannot go all the way at the European Championship...

The hosting country is always carried. Hopefully Portugal will be carried in 2004, usually refs dont likes us...wonder why 😗
France started being carried in 98 at home and in 2000.
The game against Portugal made that obvious.

oh well, we never got qualified for an Euro since 1984 (2000 the exception because we hosted the damn thing)

Well against Portugal I tend to agree, but please remind me if Xavier had moved his arm before Wiltord's kick (I remember the scene but not really if Xavier had moved or not...)
(Just a little word to be added : I think Italy must have won for several reasons.)

PS : What about opening now a Football thread and moving these posts in it, then carrying on the discussion ? ('cos we're slightly off-topic now ; but it's not my fault I haven't seen England vs Turkey...)

xavier did move his arm, but did not intend to stop it at all, so a penalty was WAY wrong!
