The DVD is indeed better quality. The only thing i cant stand is the sound. I Have the cinema quality speakers from Bose so i know how great the sound can be. However if you just want to watch a movie and not blow out your ear drums. It's utterly impossible. You cant have the sound set on a medium level and get decent sound. The dvd focuses so much on the background sounds it drowns out the dialogue so you have to constantly change the volume when important speaking momments come up

I love my DVD player with it's Dolby Digital 5.1 speakers.

Watching great movies with the volume blaring to where you can't hear other people talking is great.
