Reloaded sells 4 million

The Matrix Reloaded sold about 4 million combined VHS and DVD units in its first day on sale Tuesday, not setting a record but performing as well or better than most retailers had expected.

National video retailers and mass merchants said that preorders were very heavily skewed toward the DVD, with only about 5% of their total "Reloaded" sales making up VHS copies.

The first "Matrix" DVD, released in 1999, went on to become the top-selling title of that year, and one of the first few titles to top the 1 million DVD unit sales bar.

Meanwhile, Disney's remastered The Lion King has picked up steam, selling upward of 5 million combined DVD and VHS units during its first five days at retail.

Unfortunately I still have not boughten Reloaded yet 🙁

I think I'm buying it either tomorrow or Saturday though 😄

Yeah I was surprised how many people in line were buying a copy when I went to get mine. I loved the movie, I just had the impression I was one of very few.

Are there any easter eggs on the reloaded DVD?

for some reason i doubt it. this dvd set doesnt feel as deep or complete as the original matrix dvd.

I have never seen the original matrix on dvd good things on it ? ..i need to buy it..but im waiting for next years matrix box set

I was going to wait until Revolutions came out, but I just couldn't. I didn't like knowing everyone else was out there watching it and I wasn't.

A lot of bad movies sell alot of copies unfortunately.

While it is not a record, The Matrix Reloaded videos performed extremely well during their first day on sale, moving a combined 4 million DVDs and VHS tapes. According to industry sources cited in the Hollywood Reporter, the 2-disk DVD accounted for 95% of the sales. The first film in the Matrix series was an early hit in the DVD format back in September of 1999 when it became the first DVD to sell over a million copies, so it makes perfect sense for the DVD edition of the next Matrix film to dominate the VHS version so completely in today's market. The Matrix Reloaded DVD also benefited from an extensive television ad campaign, which was tied in with the November release of the final film in the trilogy, Matrix Revolutions. The question is, did the marketing campaign drive almost all the Matrix fans out to buy the DVD on the first day of sale, and could this mean that sales will drop off sharply? Time will tell, but there is no doubt that The Matrix Reloaded performed very well right out of the gate in the face of considerable competition, including the first DVD edition of Disney's mega-hit, The Lion King, which has sold more than 5 million units over its first week of release.
