LindisTightK...........you must be rather young. They had huge success with their album Smash that came out around '93-'94. It is what launched their career. They had two chart topping singles called, "Come Out and Play" and "Self Esteem".......their videos were played non-stop on MTV as the next big thing.
Directly afterward they recorded their punk-pop crossover album called "Ixnay on the Hombre"...........after that, pure pop. They didn't release Americana with the song "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" on it untill around '98 I believe.
Unless you hang out with people who are 25 years of age or older.......ofcourse all you've ever heard about is "pretty fly for a white guy".....the kids today were in kindergarten when the Offspring was a great punk band that busted on to the music scene with non-stop MTV play and number one hits. I somehow doubt these kids in kindergarten were into the music scene while they were learning their A, B, Cs.......all they know is the pop stuff the band has been doing for the past 7 or 8 years
Talk to somebody a bit older who was into the music scene in the early nineties...............I'm sure they will tell you the same.
I agree with the majority here....Offspring have let it slip.
Smash is a great album, along side ignitiona and their self-titled one. Im a huge fan of all their old stuff, when they once looked like they had talent. 😄
But 'pretty fly' and 'original prankster' although if they'd just been a one off bit of fun; well they were honestly and truely crap. Well the whole americana album is. And the the rip-off cover of 'get a job' 😘
