Philosopher's Stone

Why do some editions call the Philosopher's Stone the Sorceror's Stone? I first learned of the Philosopher's Stone when I was seven, from the Alchemist's Cat, by Robin Jarvis. The Elixir of life is a completely separate alchemical myth - and something I wouldn't touch with a bargepole!
