i thought that he was - sacrifices his life for the human race/end war.
somethings to ponder (which uve probably already seen!):

2.)At the end of the movie where the Oracle is talking to the Architect, there is a plaque on the bench she is sitting on which says "In memory of Thomas A. Anderson".
3.)but oracle says they "might someday see him again".

ok read the fate of the one thread link u put up now:

he dies in M1 but i dont think he dies at the end of M2 - he is just in a coma. then he dies At the end of M3 (self-sacrifice; he lets smith stick his hand in him knowing it will destroy them both)
however is he completely dead or is this correct

i think neo is essentially DEAD!
but may have been taken to a different place/higher plane by the machines which would explain the references to Buddhism/Arthur legend etc.
PS on that picture of neo exploding smith at the end of M1 im convinced thats a number 6 on smiths chest - neo is the 6th anomaly bursting him from inside!
