Nah of course he was white cuz I dunno grey horses with yellow mane.

Tis true... he is white! I just watched TTT...

... but his color changes a bit during the film as different horses were used for shadowfax.

just to say, in Tolkein's book, Gandalf explains to pippin (i think) that he rides shadowfax bareback because he will not permit anyone to put a saddle on him

yea, that sounds reasonable

yeah thats why, shadowfax will not allow many men to ride him, and the few he does must ride bareback as he will not be saddled and not thong can tame him, and if he chooses to let you ride, he will not let his rider fall

It will explain it in 2 towers ex

Its imo already explained in the TT NV.

Bring back Hasufel. For the love of the King!!

no he is considerd a GRAY horse if the horses skin is black than it is gray if i could i would go get the horse who was shadowfax and shave his coat than the skin would be black and the coat color is white but he is a GRAY horse i ve been riding horses since the 1st grade (now almost 15) i should know

But at least one of the Shadowfaxes has a pink nose

i ve noticed that to but that is because the horse has a marking there if the nose was all pink than thats albino but little sploches are markings and the yellow mane doesnt mean any thing and ive seen a gray horse with a yellow mane there are many dif types of gray horses but this is very confusing to explain so never mind

The question is, when is a horse "gray" and when "white"?

Even Albinos arent really white, rather colourless

no see he is always a gray horse but his COAT is always white but if you went to look at different types of gray horses than there are 3 i think a dapple grey with a gray coat and little round spots of white, and a flea bitten gray with a white coat and little spots of brown that look like flea bites, and a regular gray that is all white i know its very confusing but hopfuly i answered your question

o now i get your question well a gray horse has black skin (u usually cant see unless u shave them or look at the ears and nose they should be black the ears a hint of black or if u look inside, black) and an albino has pink skin the WHOLE muzle is pink as are the ears as i said earlyer

Ok thanks a lot 馃檪

no prob that was confusing but its all good he he

But I finally understand what you meant 馃槃

good i tried, he he
