Suggestion: The Sequel

The KMC forum is home to just under 14,000 members (13,398 to be more precise) with more people joining every day. I believe (but am not 100% sure) that the minimum joining age is 13-14,and often certain threads - particuarly those situated within the general and off-topic forum areas are of mature subjects - which maybe unsuitable discussion to some of KMC's younger members,so what i am suggesting for the KMC staffs consideration is the inclusion of a notice thread (non replyable) that states what is classed as being suitable to discuss within these threads - sort of laying down a couple of 'ground rules',i found out that a single page is situated every 21 seconds and this makes it near enough impossible for the moderators,admin etc to 'police' them ALL - particuarly as they cannot be on all the time, hopefully the inclusion of a notice will curb the amount of unsuitable threads being generated particuarly as this forum deals with such a large amount of daily data trafficing. Hopefully this solution will make the roles of the KMC staff a 'tad' bit easier. Just a suggestion.

but I take that if you can register at age 13 (yeah, I'm also not sure now 😖) that you are also allowed to see all the threads

Not rules as such that would defeat the concept of the creation of the general/off-topic forums in the first place but more like a simple post telling people that they should take into consideration topics they wish to discuss with fellow members on accounts of there universal suitability before they actually post them, Its merely a suggestion thats all. 🙂

I personally believe that the apropriate age for a person to be able to join the forums they should at atleast 16 years old but that in itself is a very controversial subject.

some people who are like 25 act to be 10 😛

How about a forum for the racy threads to be? Make it passworded only for those who are of appropriate age to view them, you must be able to prove your age to get the password directly from Raz.

I think I'm going to do the same at my forum.

Although I think that's a good idea, it would be nearly impossible to prove how old you really were. You can just lie, so I don't know how well that idea would actually work.

You are suppossed to atleast 14 years old to be on these forums. (maybe it was 13, I dunno) So a 7 year old being on these forums is most definitely not ok.

well, it's easy: when she signed up, she lied and she violated the terms of agreement, so if something happens to her through this board (mentally due to certain subjects orso, or what ever) it's not anyones fault her

Although a very good idea in design,i have to agree with Linds and unfortunately also have to say it has some major flaws which will ultimately defeat its intended objection - the main flaw being that there is no 'sure fire' way to check whether or not the person in question is giving KMC there correct age-someone (not all) could simply make up an age that will allow them access to a particular restricted thread,forum etc. Even if they do get through this particular barrier and continue using your idea (- a password will be given once an age is using by the site administrator *in this instance Raz*) however KMC has exactly 13,545 of those 13,545 members 4446 of them have posted at least once (this calculation is excluding those who have registered with KMC in the last couple of hours), stats suggest that a single thread page is generated every 0.10 seconds (subject to change depending on the time),statistical evaluation suggests that the majority of posts are composed within the general community threads (i.e. The 'Off Topic' and 'General' discussion forums) :
At the time of 12.00 pm BST,the KMC forums consisted of a total of 675,687 posts of this figure, 341.215 posts were generated by discussions within the aforementioned 'community' areas that is almost half of the posts generated,your suggestion for password access may work on a smaller site that has a much smaller ratio of members but with this statistical evidence it would be impossible (and not to mention tiring) for Raz and indeed the rest of the KMC staff to carry out this type of operation.

Another good idea,but i feel it is not really plausable for this particular situation....sorry.

That is why i feel my preliminary idea would be one of the only plausable idea,ok im the first to admit its not a 'sure fire' way of policing all threads but hopefully new and existing members will take notice of it and become aware of what is suitable and what is not,im not trying to say "please put rules in the 'community forums' " but if KMC wish they could display a thread telling users to be aware of fellow members,a large percentage of KMC's members are between the ages of 13,14 & 15 and often composed threads are of a mature(ish) nature - hence my concern, however movies are a universal language and forums such as KMC are a great way to meet and talk to new people so restricting people on the basis of there age particuarly in a place where people of a teen age are ALREADY members then i do not think that is fair on there behalf. I must also comment by saying this is not a 'dig' or moan at the KMC authorities but merely a suggestion,because im 'addicted' to this place,but we can't ignore the fact that this place is hugely popular and is continuing to grow at a rapid rate.

let me ask you this what prevents children from surfing those porn sites. The answer is report the site to web nanny or those services that don't allow children onto this page. Since we personaly can't set peoples security settings we can make the rating of the boards differently. And the waver does cover your but because it is legally bonding.
