UK star wars fans.. anyone plannin a trip to LA...?

Hi, Back in 99 I met up with a great group of fans and we flew over to LA and have the time of our lives seein EP1.....

well the magic time is rolling around again and i wondered if anyone in the UK was planning something similar.. and if so.. is it going to be semi organised like before? Id love to hear from anyone.. make some new friends and maybe get a traveling parnter

Also my unterior motive is my final year project.
Its my last year at uni and im making a documentry on people who travelled to see EP1 -not on the crazy fans angle- but on what it meant to them and how it changed their lives.

So if theirs anyone out their who went before or is planning something.. or wants to make a new pal.. or be/help with the documentary.. Please get in touch

I don't know about myself... I mean, I saw TPM in Canada, and I will do my best to get there to watch EP II

There was talk of a trip out to the states to see Episode-II, but I'm nopt sure if anyone is still up for it.

For most people, it is the money that's the problem.

I have the additional problem of dying if I go into that heat.

Actually, Ush, May is really quite pleasant here..Plus you can hang out at my house..

I wont lie i spent about about £1,800 all said and done.

but i know i can do it for about half that now.

I went for 8 days and stayed at the rosevelt.. Great hotel.. super... BUT i was paying about $120 dollars a night.. even on the ones i slept outside.. . some of the other brits were staying in a hotel just around the corner.. im talking about a xtra 2 min walk... and they were paying around $40 a night...
so theres about £600 saved there 🙂

plus i bout loadsa star wars crap.. i mean .. memorabilila 🙂

but ya gotta allow for that 🙂

I worked out I could do it for under a grand!

Flight: £389.00
Hotel: 7 x £50.00=£350.00

Infact, you could get a 1 week holiday in May from a travel agents and probab ly do it for less and have a car thrown in as well.

Plus food and stuff.

I guess it's the cra... I mean memorabilila that you end up buying.

However, with much of the UK contingent being students or thereabout anything much past a hundred quid is pretty much out the picture.

And know i could do it cheaper now 🙂

as for anything over £100 being alot.. anything over a tenner does it for me... usually a fiver is pushing it 🙂

Ok, for MOST students it is totally out of the picture then. Certainly myself and Edna and Zereil and Orpheus can't do it. ANd Phinney can't even make the journey across the States.

If you started saving Now then you might be able to come up with that much. It's more a matter really, of how much you want it.

I can't either. I'm going to be really busy around that time looking for work. 🙁

NY makes sense, LA doesn't, no offense to Dim, but NY is closer and would cost less coming in from Europe. I remeber that when Episode I was about to open, Lucas held special charity showings 4 days before the scheduled opening in select cities, Dallas was one of them, but of course it was impossible to get tickets so I didn't even bother and just waited 5 days. If he does the same thing this year, I will most definately try to get tickets.

I'll start a charity if he opens it here first. 🙂
