Okay, I'm not a big fan of female vocalists; despite having my share of divas in my CD collection. But, I have a real issue with vocalists like Spears, Aguilera and the ilk. When they sing, they sing in a baby voice that sounds like a five year old asking for preferential treatment. It drives me up the wall. When Tina Turner or Alison Krasue or Aretha Franklin or even Mary J. Blige and Amy Winehouse sing, they sing like real women. Spears and Aguilera sound like abused female children asking their father for a pony. It's all high-pitched whinny singing that is meant to sound innocent and dirty at the same time, but it comes across to me as manufactured and pathetic. I'm sure there are 30-somethings that are out there working the clubs who get a woody over their voices and the reaction from the crowd, but they simply sound abused to me. I feel sorry for them and their parents. John Lennon, Elton John, Gnarles Barkley, Sting, Billy Joel, Freddy Mercury and Prince, David Bowie: they never sounded like their father touched their genitals before they grew hair on them. Well, maybe Freddy Mecury did. I'm just saying that the whinny, school-girl, crap needs to go. Sound like a woman or be cast off into the kid's bop category where you belong.
