That sweet savory meat we call human flesh

I recently have gotten into the study of cannibals. My major in college is Criminology, and cannibalism is an aspect of deviance that has fascinated me for the last few years. I love reading about the serial killers who eat their victims, and movies that involve cannibalism intrigue me as well.

A few days ago I watched a movie called "Slave to the Cannibal God", and I was wondering if any of you have seen it? I believe it was made in the late seventies, and although it is a movie not many people have heard of, it really isn't all that bad.

The basic storyline is that a woman and her brother fly to South America because her husband was down there doing some sort of work and he was missing. They have to trek through the jungle to get to a part of the country where few people have been. This movie has a decent storyline if you like this kind of thing. It is a bit slow, but worth watching.

Another cannibal movie I like is "Ravenous". Even though it isn't a horror movie it is still quite disturbing.

What do you think are some of the more interesting cannibal movies or even books that involve cannibalism?

I saw a documentary on cannabilism. It covered all sides of it, the religious tribe ritual type to the murderous type. I found it very interesting since it ranged from religious beliefs of absorbing knowledge through consuming flesh down to striking fear into people and even just for sheer survival. A good deal of people get queasy over decapitation and dismemberment, so Im sure tearing someone open and eating them up is even harder to swallow.. pun intended 🙂

That documentary sounds interesting...

I'd like to see Cannibal Haulocaust, but I can't find it anywhere around here. I may jsut have to give in and order it.

Cannibal Holocaust is the definitive cannibal film, truley amazing.

There was a movie on one of the Showtime channels earlier called "Parents" about cannibals... it was considered a dark comedy but I didn't find it funny i thought it was really starange. Has anyone seen it?

I cannot find Cannibal Holocaust anywhere. I am just going to have to break down and buy it off the internet.

TCM is not necessarily a cannibal film but the family are cannibals.

That actually brings up a question, it might be dumb but...

In TCM when the guy walks out of the gas station and says "I got us some barbecue." That is human remains that he has actually bought isn't it?

Have you tried the Library? It might sound strange but I 'rented' that movie from my Library. But if you can't find it there I sure EBAY has it.
