personally, i dont think lucas should have introduced the gungans in episode I at all. amidala should have been queen on kashyyyk, where wookies and humans shared the planet. it would have allowed alot more continuity to the series. besides, chewbacca would have been much cooler than jar-jar. and wookies would be better warriors than gungans with much cooler battle scenes.

You also have to see the placing of Kashyyyk, there not on the outer rim, near Tatooine, so they had a planet made near Tatooine so they could land on it to find Anakin.

The Gungans are important, because first they had to make peace and then they could make war against the battledroids...
Besides, you can't replace Jar Jar with Chuwie because Jar Jar will have a different role in EpII that is necassary for the story...

And who wants to see Kashyyyk anyway? It's just the same as Endor. By using a brand new species we got to see new characters and new places.

Chewbacca is not a main character. He's a sidekick. And even if he was a main character we don't need to see everyones home planet. Especially as it looks exactly like Endor.

we dont need to see chewebaccas home planet for the sake of seeing his home planet, but we dont need to see the gungans either. theyre a stupid, childish comic diversion. you argue that chewebacca was a sidekick, well what the heck do you call jar-jar.

but there is nothing sure about Kashyyyk, certainly because in the movie, nothing is said about it

thats why it would have been a perfect place for the setting of episode I. instead, lucas created naboo, with stupid freaking gungans and jar-jar

Puting Kashyyk in tpm would have been the dumbest move ever. Why do you want to see a planet that's the exact same as one we've already seen? And Yerssots right, Jar Jar was a sidekick the same as chewbacca.

not the same as chewbacca. chewie was cooler, NOT CG, and NOT annoying as hell. fans would have liked him enough for lucas to keep him in episode II. i know jar-jars in episode II, but with a VERY small pert.

i dont think main characters homeworlds should have been seen in episode I merely for the sake of seeing their homeworld, but simply because i dont like the gungans. personal thing i guess. it would have made much more thematic sense for padme to have been from alderaan, think of how sad we would be to see anakin destroy it in ANH, destroying his wifes home planet, but lucas didnt do that. which makes me think something VERY bad is going to happen to naboo by the end of episode III.
