Yes I know. I have just had a big lecture about this off of Ush. I know that in their views and their minds it is a time for rejoicing. But I the thought that people are brought up to think like this really saddens me. The world has a lot of changing to do before it can ever be a truly nice and safe place to live.

But then the reverse is true, they believe that it is us who have been twisted by capitalistic greed.

Frankly, if I had my way, we (the democratic western world) would hunt down these bastards and publically execute them.

But right now we need to relect, understand and discover the truth behind who committed this attrocity.

Yes. It can be a very nasty place sometimes. But there CAN be things done about it, and with any luck that process will begin soon.

Ok, SOMEONE is firing at Kabul, but the US has just said it's not them. I suppose we are looking at the Israeli angle right now.

Well I am young, don't know squat about politics and see things in black and whie i am afraid. So I think I will leave this conversation before I get into any more confrontations about this. The last thing I want to do is upset anyone.

But my heart does go out to everyone who has suffered a loss today.

Of course. But you weren't upsetting anyone, Edna. honestly! We were just commenting on the situation.

RC's right. This is certainly a time for reflection.

Darn it! Apparently the explosions in Kabul may be totally unrelated.

The Afghan opposityion resistance leader (to the Taliban) was killed couple of days back. A strike back like this was very likely!

So my worries about an early retalitation may have been nothing at all.

I know. But this is getting more and more political and since politics is a virtual no mans land for me then I have no right to comment and if I do carry on commenting then I am likely to say something that will offend someone. Therefore i have given my best wishes for those who will appreciate them and now I shall retire and reflect on my own!

Amen to that. As far as the complecities of the politival situation, I really should know more than I do.

Though I will chime in with news updates, I too will restract from any conversation of a political nature.

Wasn't the Taliban Leader the one killed when two rockets were shot through his window.

I only mention that because someone mentioned today that the rockets used were American in design and were allegedly supplied to the Israel amry by the Americans.

Some have stated that this may be a facxtor in there attacks on the US.

I'm not entirely sure of the Taliban have been in conflict with Israeli forces, so I don't know about that. I didn't even know the Taliban had lost a leader.

Of course, American supply to the Israelis has LONG made them hated out there by many nations.

Bush has just delivered a brief, yet informative and supportive speach.

Clearly he wants everyone to try and move ahead and prove to the owrld that this tragedy will not halt America for a heartbeat.

He also indicated that all resources available will be used to find the perpetrators of this attack.

Yup.

We could be in a for a long haul now, and it may hurt along the way, but a LOT of good could ultimately come of this.

First I want to apologize for freaking out on the board earlier on. I always imagine the worst-case scenario and in this case that would be that we have WW3 and thousands and thousands of people will die because somebody forgot to deprogram a sick culture of people who like to see pain and suffering.
Anyway.
On the news they were saying somethig about this terrorist leader in Afghanistan who said part of his faith was killing Americans, so I guess he's suspected as having masterminded this. Palestine's leader whose name has also slipped my mind said that he was shocked at this.

I still cant believe it, it feels like a dream of some sort. Like watching a movie. All those people, the poor people in the wheelchairs, and the cops and fire fighters, and NY, this is going to cost hundreds of billions of dollars to fix, but all those lives that were lost is so tragic. NY doesn't look like NY anymore, who would of ever thought that the Empire State Bldg would be the dominate skyscraper. It's unbelievable. Like loosing the Eiffel Tower or the Big Ben or the pyramids. I hope they rebuild the towers, as a tribute to American persevearance and a thousand foot memorial to all those lost souls. Ohhh, this is just unbelievable. I can see those towers in my mind, seeing them in person and going to the top, and now there not there anymore. It's so crazy! We still haven't heard from my god mother, my mom says she works near CP, so she's probally safe. We're praying for her and all those poor people. Oh, this is so horrible. This the worst thing that could possibly happen, the only thing that could be worse then this, is if a nuclear bomb exploded or a nerve gas attack. Ohhhhhh, this is really evil!!!!!!! Those poor people

I don't think you have to apologize, Lauren..We all understand..

I heard that there were blackouts...maybe that's why it's so difficult to get ahold of your god mom, Tex..

Thankfully I don't have any direct (known) relation to anyone at either site.

That said, I am extremely pissed off and I want to see justice delivered in forms of large explosives!

The theory behind terrorism is to scare the people to cry out for change or removal of occupying forces.

The reality of attacking the US, is you just make us mad and we have more will to hunt down and destroy the instigators!

Believe me this is not over. They might even try this again and may even be successful, but that dosn't mean we wont make their headquarters and bases smoking craters in the desert.

ANyone in the US and even in the world, go to your nearest blood donation center and give! The Red Cross is taking all they can get. That is the only thing we can do immediantly to help.

The strike in Kabul was the opposing forces of the Taliban regime work. The Taliban struck the hq of Masod(The Lion) and his forces most likely they killed him. This attack on Kabul was a payback. The Afghan rebel forces uses all the equipment they can get a hand on, US weapons as well.
Three weeks ago Osama Bin Laden said to a reporter that they were ready to launch a huge attack on US interests and US soil, but this was not picked up as a threat. This acccording to reports I saw on the tv this morning. As for the palastinians, I have no sympathy for them and don`t support their wishes for a nation of their own. That would be a breading nest for terrorists.

Palastinians. I f***ing hat those bastards. The world can never go forward when you have backward cultures like that.

The day I saw them burning the Cross of St George was the day I wanted to see that country steam-rolled.

If I have offended anyone, sorry, but I am upset, deeply upset by this, and to see these vermin laugh and celebrate makes me sick to my stomach.

I would be careful about tarring all Palistinians with the same brush there DJV. Though I think we all share your overall view.

LaurenE147, your initial reactions need no apology. When you are as close to this kind of thing then you are fully entitled.
