Wolverine

Possibly did the same thing to his claws as was done to the claws in his clones feet. Each claw removed, covered in Adamantium, then reinserted.

=Shrug=

thats what happened with X-23 and the blades in her feet.

Laura's claws were extracted, laced with adamantium, then reinserted BECAUSE they didn't want to halt her growing process. They intended to lace her skeleton much later.

Wolverine's claws were in his forearms during the procedure.

Yeah, Laura was still growing up as they did that, which is why the rest of her skeleton is bone. Logan's HF was so advanced, that he could actually take the whole process, plus he was already full grown.

Here's the first pic of Wolverine with his bone claws

From what I remember in the comics, originally they were gonna be part of his gloves, then they were implants with Frank Miller actually designing the mechanism for how they worked in the wolverine graphic. Then they were bone. From what I could tell storywise, he was born with them but for psychological reasons, used them a handful of times before the weapon x experiments and was in denial about their existence. After the bonding process, possibly because his healing factor was so taxed and since the claws tear through skin and flesh, his hands would bleed profusely every time he popped his claws so a silicon guide like the one miller designed was implanted to minimize the bleeding, this was actually mentioned in Weapon X while they are wiring Logan's nervous system. That's why in some of the earlier comics he's got little round grooves on the back of his hands. Then all of that was ripped out by magneto, mechanisms and all. Wolvie had bone claws for awhile and even had them snapped off by Cyber. Then he had the adamantium reimplanted by apocalypse and that's where we are today, adamantium-bonded bone claws with no guides.

yeah i have one correction. the reason wolverine didnt know about the bone claws was that before weapon x every time he used the claws it was a really tramatic time for him and his healing factor protects his mind from that trama by erasing those memories, and sabertooth knew about that so he would use that against him but that gets to complicated for this particular subject

This should be here:

I don't think the silicone sheath is natural as implied though. Wolverine lost the little grooves in his hands after losing the adamantium and in the Weapon X miniseries, Cornelius and the Thorton even talk about implanting a guide to prevent bleeding and morbidity.

Ok... I can't believe you are all really discussing this. Who doesn't know? Lemme tell you the story. He had the claws from about 10. But they didn't start made of Adminathium. They were made of bone. He killed his father with them. Later on durring the weapon X program (we know all of this not only form the comics but from what X23 went through) that they were coated in Adimanthium. That is how he got them metal. Now listen to this. Later on, as the comic pic that ...ahem... Mr. Smiley (interesting picture) so generously submitted shows when the metal was extracted leaving his claws and skeleton just bone. I THINK it was done by Magneto. Then later on the metal was replaced (I think Beast did that). As far as Laura goes she went through the weapon X program at 13 (a little harsh). But she had the bone claws to because of the DNA.

Apocalypse put the adamantium back, Beast has no idea, or the necessary tools to perform the bonding process.

please read the thread before you post

Based on the working print, the movie does follow the comics except

Spoiler:
Sabretooth is the one that snaps his claws off

I don think originaly that he had claws since he was a kid b/c iremember watching the 90's cartoon and he put on gloves w/ claws

Nope, even in the 90's the claws were part of his body, I don't think they have ever been built into his gloves.

Your are right pure story line wises, however he was originally designed to have the claws as part of his gloves not his body, though this was changed.
