When and in which movie is it mentioned?

in revolutions.........the place niobe takes them through to get to the dock at zion, they keep referring to it as a mechanical line.they say no one can pilot a ship through a mechanical line, but niobe says she can and she does.

a mechanical line is a smaller tunnel that was probably used for maintenance back when the Matrix did not exist, in SR time...

And this is what it says about awareness:

So how does this relate to the Matrix? The humans enslaved by the Matrix are unconscious, unaware of the true events. The Oracle is preconsciously aware of events in the process of becoming true. Sati then represents the final stage of enlightenment and complete awareness.

The Machines have become aware of the truth. And it is this: Artificial Intelligence is defined as the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent behavior; suitably programmed computing machinery is capable of duplicating human cognitive mental states.

What it implies is: if the Machines want to grow more conscious, the humans have to grow more conscious. They will be able to grow by duplicating ever more complex mental states. They have already learned the truth about love and faith.

And that is why Sati made the rainbow for Neo.
