ANCHOR BAY FILMS
TO DISTRIBUTE REMAKE OF HORROR CLASSIC
I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE

Theatrical Engagements Planned for Fall; DVD/Blu-ray™ Release in 1Q 2011

Anchor Bay Films announces the acquisition of the CineTel Films’ remake of the 1978 cult classic I Spit On Your Grave for the following English-speaking territories: US, Canada, Australia, UK and New Zealand. Already heavily discussed among horror fans worldwide, this new version takes the original to a terrifying new level.

Produced by CineTel Films’ Paul Hertzberg and Lisa Hansen in association with Anchor Bay Films, I Spit On Your Grave will receive targeted theatrical engagements in the Fall under the ABF banner, with a subsequent DVD and Blu-ray™ release anticipated for 1Q 2011. The announcement was made by Bill Clark, President, Anchor Bay Entertainment.

“Fans still look to the Anchor Bay name for quality horror,” said Clark. “We are ready to have the I Spit On Your Grave remake join our incomparable library of horror classics.”

“The original film is a masterpiece of ‘revenge cinema,’ and is still a visceral experience, even today,” noted Kevin Kasha, Senior Vice President, Acquisitions, Anchor Bay Films. “But I can safely say that this remake not only honors the 1978 original, but will shock today’s audiences as never before.”

According to the film’s producers Lisa Hansen and Paul Hertzberg: “Remakes of the classic horror genre continue to be very successful. This is a film that has a huge cult following and we are thrilled to secure the rights from Meir Zarchi, the creator of the original.” Zarchi remains involved creatively and is one of the Executive Producers of the film.

Directed by Steven R. Monroe, 2010’s I Spit On Your Grave tells the story of city dweller Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler), a city girl who rents an isolated cabin in the country to write her latest novel. On one terrifying evening, a group of local lowlifes break into the cabin and overpower, assault and rape Jennifer, ultimately leaving her for dead. But Jennifer miraculously survives her ordeal, consumed with hell-borne vengeance for those who wronged her, and repays their heinous acts in gruesome ways that these lowlifes never thought imaginable The cast includes Daniel Franzese (Bully), Chad Lindberg (The Fast and The Furious), Rodney Eastman (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & 4) and Andrew Howard (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen).

The deal for I Spit On Your Grave was negotiated by Clark, Kasha, and Richard Turner for Anchor Bay Films, and Paul Hertzberg and Lisa Hansen for CineTel.

The trailers for this film look pretty intriguing.

I doubt that this film will get a major theatrical run since it is unrated.

I might have to wait for DVD to see this.

Nice movie, a kind of nerve wrecking movie.

the remake was alot more tame then the original.

Great seen
