Is The Matrix now a religion?

Have the followers of The Matrix move now become the followers of a new religion.

I'm not saying we ARE in the matrix but there are many many people who believe in the posibilty of the matrix being real and there are some who believe we are in the matrix.

Surely there are now enough believers in this outlook on our world, our lives and our reality that it could now be classed as a religion in it's self.

The topics in this forum alone are very deep, very spiritual and at times refer to a higher being and even compair Neo to a saviour, to Christ.

What do you guys think?

well, if they can make Jedi a religion (yes, it is crazy, but its supposed to be on the next Census in US) then i guess anything is possible, but i know the Matrix isn't real...isn't it?

the matrix isnt a religion, its a philosophy. it completly changed the way i view the world and society, but i dont go bow down to my dvd's...
