"bump"?

This is probably a dumbish question but. . .what does "bump" mean when people say it in forums? I just felt like knowing. . . . thanks! 😄

when no one responds for a while the thread gets lost so people go find it and "bump" it back to the top by posting

on the other forum i used to go to everyone was bump this and bump that but here i havent seen it used once well except for above this post i guess i have seen it once
