based on FM

The Simpsons writers have really done a great job of creating hundreds of personalities for everyone in town.

It's based on a real town with real characters and real life experiences.

Yeah, I've herd that too. I doubt the real town is that outragious, though 🤣

I heard they tame it down from the real town.

🤣 No way.

who's Sideshow Bob's bombboy?

Where is the Simpson's Springfield? Kentucky, Missouri, North Dakota, and Illinois are the most popular answers. I believe it has no basis, nor an actual location. It's a combination of Springfields around the USA. Here are some people's interesting thoughts from another forum I found. *gasp* Blasphemy! 😂

If you go to this link: (type it in yourself cause' my hyperlinks never work.)

You can view Springfield in all it's glory. Just save it to your desktop and max the view.

1. Tennessee (The abbreviation that comes after Springfield is NT. Backwards that spells TN, the abbreviation for Tennessee. Also, capital punishment can be by electrocution in Tennessee, so should The Simpsons be based in Tennessee, I guess the producers edited it to make it that Tennessee has electrocution as it's only form of capital punishment. Plus, in episode 4F22 (The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson) the family seem to be catching the bus from Tennessee.)

2. I think it is in ND based on all the things based on Ogdenville etc. Lisa had a crush on a guy named langden Ogder

3. To all of you who think that you can't figure out what state Springfield is in, you are very WRONG. It can be figured out. Haven't you seen the episode where they go to Brazil? Th little orphan says he would have written Lisa but she never told him what state she lived in. She says, "Yes, it's a little bit of a mystery, but if you look at all the clues you can figure it out." It's Kentucky.

4. the reason why i say ohio, is because in this one episode where marge and lisa where calling about this board game because it was missing pieces, and they ask for her adress and she replied, "?evergreen terrace, springfield ohi-ya maud." right when maud flanders walked in.

5. A FEW MORE REASONS ITS IN MISSOURI-- WHEN SPINAL TAP APPEARED ON STAGE, THEY SAID HELLO ST. LOUIS, THERE IS A MOE'S BAR IN SPRINGFEILD MISSOURI, DURING A DUFF-BOWL COMMERCIAL, THE BEER BOTTLES WERE PLAYING FOOTBALL--EXACTLY LIKE A COMMERCIAL INCLUDING THE BUDWEISER BOTTLES, THE SIMPSON'S ONCE VACATIONED IN THE OZARKS, MISSOURI HAS A LOT OF BORDERING STATES THEREFORE MAKING TRAVEL EASY, AREA CODE IS 636 AS REFERED BY MARGE, MISSOURI HAS A MAJOR BEER COMPANY, LISA CLIMBED A TREE AND SAW THE ARCH,MISSOURI HAS COAST GUARD RESERVES, MAJOR NUCLEAR PLANT IN THE AREA, MAJOR MENTAL HOSPITAL, GOD ASKED ABOUT THE CARDINALS--HOMER SAID THEY MOVED TO ARIZONA

6. There is several articles of evidence which cut down the # of possible states. For one it could be north dekota because marge said on an episode they had been kicked out of every state but there. for those who say its on the west coast this van not be tru because in the episode with prop. 326 or whatever homer shows apu where springfield is on the map. Although lisa's head covers the middle of the USA the east and west coast are revealed there for ruling them out. there are several more points of evidence but im too damn lazy to type

7. Why can't you all accept the fact that Springfield is a fictional town located in a fictional U.S. state (even though there are still 50 states in world of "The Simpsons"😉? It's a cartoon! Anyway Matt Groening, the creator, DID base the town loosely on Springfield, Oregon. Matt is from Portland, Oregon, and visited Eugene and Springfield many times. (Springfield neighbors Eugene a.k.a. "Shelbyville."😉 He also mentions these facts in many interviews. But again, all of it is still purely fictional!

8. It is in Missouri. Why, you ask?
- 1. The area code is 636, which is in Springfield, Missouri.
- 2. Springfield, Missouri is right next to Shelbyville, Missouri.

9. Look you idiots. Troy McClure clearly stated in 'Behind the laughter' that Springfield was in Northern Kentucky. Although, being a Brit - I couldn't care less. And the fact that I may have spelt Kentucky wrong makes me cry with sympathy for you crazy americans!

10. It's not Northern Kentucky: if you watch 'Behind the Laughter' there's a credit for a guy called 'Weernot F. Romky'. Read it again: 'We're not from KY.' I personally think it's an experimental town in Red China used to train sleeper spies for infiltration into the United States, hence the warped view of Americana which only a foreign power could possess.

Hmmm, how bizarre.

nice to know... simpson freaks 😄

well i just went a picked up the season 2 dvd set today, i havent watched it yet, shit it was pretty expensive, 40 bucks. but i guess thats not to bad considering how expensive some of the other tv show dvds are. i also got shawshank redemption 🙂

I don't think the Simpsons are in any state.

😆
