Hmmm, I was wondering ever since I got here what the difference between General Discussion and Off-Topic is since on most boards, they're the same. I'm assuming General Discussion is talking about anything but in a more debative light whereas Off-Topic is more goofing off. Perhaps someone can clarify that for me?
General Discussion isn't really meant to be more debative in any way, or even more serious. It predates the OTF by a longnway
But in the GDF, we like things to stay on-topic rather than have endless threads endlessly wandering into all sorts of nonsense that made no sense to anyone save those who started it.
In the end, rather than continually closing such threads, the decision was made to create a dedicated Off-topic area, where ALL the nonsense threads could go for people who liked them, whilst the GDF is meant to be the home of people who actually want to pick a subject and talk about it, and STAY on it.
Doesn;t always work like that though.
