Video still wouldn't have been brand new then. Heck, even WE had one then...

I was 14 and saw ANH June of 1977 at the Stonybrook Cinema with my mom and dad. The theatre was jammed. The lines were unbelieveable. The popcorn machine was smoking. It was great.

They set fire to the popcorn machine? No wonder you remember, Was the film any good?

That's VERY early. We got ours in 1984 and it took quite a while after that before SW came out on video here.

yeah SW got out pretty late. They showed it on TV in Norway in 1983 so I was able to tape it. When video first came out it was merly used as a recorder. The idea of rental of films came much later. I read somewhere that the first videos appared in the very early 70`s

Yes the first home videos were from that era, but they had these huge and clumsy cassettes and very crappy quality. They had them in school when I attended high school in the early 80s. Great laugh that was.
