WHOA. In no way is rock "at its finest". Rock 30 years ago (Beatles, Who, Stones) is WAY better then pretty much anything today.

right, to you..

im pretty sure you and me have a way different taste in rock..
and MY opinion on rock music.. is that it is most defenetly at its finest now.

the who sucks

It depends what you are looking at. Of course old music is good: we don't remember the 99% of crap fondly.

I don't know.....

My favorite bands, or the majority of them, are from the 60's and 70's era, with the exception of the slim margin percentage of others. It's mainly rock however. Those are the goldies I turn to when I want to hear some really classic stuff, but I don't think it is fair to say that rock is 'dead' when all we see ARE the classics. People need to look further and beyond the classic music and see for themselves. You can't just determine and declare that rock is dead if you only listen to the radio. Mainstream radio doesn't play anything worth while. But there are bands and artists that don't get the airplay on big radio stations that are great. Rock is certainly different, but I don't think it's dead.....

It's just hiding in the shadows for you to find it.

wow you're cool

man it's always there, you're just not looking hard enough.

The great bands don't usually get the most coverage, such are most people. It's just that history is cruel to shit music in a way that people that are afraid to stray from the herd aren't.

some old music is good like gn'r but i dont like some bands like led zepplin and the who. i am not to fond of jimi hendrix either

Never again will we see the likes of queen, led zep, GnR, Maiden, Sabbath.

Rock is becoming commercialised

good charlette or whatever is destroying rock along with simple plan and hoobastank

The darkness 😘

The rasmus had a good song, but they wont last.

velvet revlover is doing rock some justice

rock can never be classed as "at its finest" because 'finest' means different things to different people, i know for a fact that i dont think that rock was at its finest in the 70-80's....because i dont like the style of music, get what i mean....

so really this thread is 1 persons opinion on the state of rock, nothing more

Nightwish and BG are flying the flag hugh 😊

This isn't true though, even back then, for the 5 bands you named, there were obviously thousands of shit ones. There are still bands of that calibre.

when did rock die???

Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit happened to rock.

ha ha ha ha ha.well rock will be back but not until the twenties.

Bullshit. Modern alternative rock is much less commercial than Queen and GnR (both of whom were often in the charts). Pop-rock is commerical yes, but thats an entirely different thing altogether, and personally, I don't consider bands such as Good Charlotte and Simple Plan rock at all.

Anyone who says rock is dead needs to move on. There is a lot of shitty bands out there yes, but there are also tons of great ones too. Its always been like that.

Well put DB 👆
