From the 20th.
Die-hard fans ARE seeing it more than once (I’ve seen it three times this far – which will not be my final number).
Try as I might, I haven’t found EVERYONE labelling it as a box-office disaster. But I’m beginning to get a daily grin from the die hard… what would that word be… anti-fans(?), who’re crowding every Matrix fan forum they can find to spread THIS word.
I can’t find proof that Revolutions will already be out on DVD on the 6th of January either, only rumours. And I do MEAN rumours.
RoTK is even beginning to shake now, since Christopher Lee was mightily annoyed most of Saruman’s scenes were cut.
As JediHDM said: When LotR tickets went on sale, people were laying in lines. There were Tolkien-fan groups LOOONG before we even saw a trailer to The Matrix. The Wachskis were given free hands with the sequel(s) to The Matrix, thusly gave it the ending THEY wanted. So it didn’t suffer the fate of, say, Blade Runner, where Ridley Scott originally had to make the ending more digestible.
Maybe it IS a disaster, maybe the DVD WILL be out on the 6th. WHO cares? I don’t. Revolutions was a great, non-mainstream end to a great trilogy.
DV> I’m asking you if a big box-office equals a good movie, and bad box-office equals a bad movie? And I’ll keep on telling you to speak for yourself, otherwise provide links, or get ALL the people you speak on behalf off, to come here and voice their opinion.
Omega they have been speaking you have just been blinded by pride to listen to what they have to say.
You want some proof, you want some in your FACE PROOF....here we go.
1st week:
Over 100 million worldwide
Three weeks later:
Just barely topped the 6 million mark
Omega the least you can do is admit that this is not what anyone expected (that is until you actually see the film for what it's worth) and it is rather disappointing. I am still a fan of the matirx movies but this last installment was a big disapointment it just did not hit me as hard as the others at first and it did not linger for as long. Im sorry to be the one to break the news to you but this is fact now and not just me stating that the movie is not up to par.
Jedi: Have you gone mad?. The lotr movies not the books have been around for three years now. The movies have done well because the fans have accepted them and they are cinematic history in the making. Do you honestly think the fans would have liked the movie if it did not meet their high expectations. The movies themselves have been around for less time than the matrix movies and WILL go down as the best cinematic trilogy of our time both box office and fan approved.
DV> You obviously can’t read what I write. Granted, English is not my FIRST language, so I’ll try again.
I’m asking you just to say what YOU think, and not get up on the same soap-box as BackFire, and speak on behalf of other people. Would you like other people to speak on your behalf? I wouldn’t.
So where are all the Matrix Revolutions-haters on this forum?
Oh, I can readily agree Revolutions was NOT what everyone expected. Until you free your mind you’ll probably belong to the majority, who wants happy shiny Disney-endings, where they ALL live happily ever after.
I can not admit that it is disappointing, as I do not FIND it to be disappointing. Just as you can’t understand why some fans LOVE this movie, I can’t grasp why you (or the vast majority on whose behalf you speak) hate it so. Save to note, that if a movie doesn’t follow standard mainstream Hollywood, then…
Have you gone insane? Okay, you need to stop antagonising people who do not agree with you. And you accuse ME of arrogance??? Again: Are you so bored here by now, but too stubborn to accept, that hard-core fans LIKE Revolutions, to just leave, and need to be banned?
The Tolkien LotR had a HUGE fanbase LONG before the movies ever came out? You are aware of how old the books are, right? Otherwise I’m sure you can find out using a simple search-feature. There were Tolkien fanclubs before anyone even mentioned Jackson’s movies.
The movies and the books are on two diffrent scales. Many ppl are quoted as always saying "the book was better" not with the lotr trilogy. Jackson took some chances with includng things that were not int he book and taking somethings out and even making everything in his own vision which alot of hardcore fans might have not liked but it was accepted.
I know how old the books are and I know it had a huge fan base before the movies were released but, there is always a chance that ppl will not "take" to the new adaptation.
Until you free your mind you’ll probably belong to the majority, who wants happy shiny Disney-endings, where they ALL live happily ever after.
Im sorry did someone say antagonize?.
My name alone should let you know that im not into happy endings..that is not the problem I had with revolutions (im sure the majority did not have that problem as well..it was no secret the third movie was about death)...I stated what i thought the flaws were but im sure you just skimmed right over my post. 💃
DV> Yes, the movies and books are not the same thing. Ehrm. One is a movie the other is book, and, yes, some hard-core Tolkien fans do not LIKE the movies. But there were – and this is the point – LotR fanclubs out there a loooong long time ago.
”I know how old the books are and I know it had a huge fan base before the movies were released but, there is always a chance that ppl will not "take" to the new adaptation.”
Oh, certainly. But how many Tolkien fans do you think do see the movies, just because it is THE adaptation of Tolkiens work? The entire point JediHDM was making, was that LotR did HAVE a huge fanbase even before the first movie came out.
When Revolutions came out there were threads about people HATING it, simply because it did NOT have a happy ending. But you like tragic endings. Fine. You didn’t like Revolutions. Fine, too.
You do not understand why I like it. Fine. Accept, for once, that not EVERYONE sees things the way YOU do. None of us have monopoly on the truth, and “like” is very subjective indeed.
Oh, so you ARE aware of when someone is antagonising another forumite? Good to know for future references.
Hah! we have strayed of the subject again omega and once again we seem to be going at eachother to no end it would seem...hehehe.
Well im gonna end it on my part at least. Omega as smart as you are you seem to be missing one HUGE fact you are the only taking this to some other level. I simply said I did not like the movie and here you are to this day saying that Until I free my mind I wont get it.....hehehe!.
My mind has been freed for a long time and you seem to be the one close minded because you cant seem to take the fact that I simply did not like this film along with millions of other fans. I can acept the fact you liked it..I mean i never once said "man a person must be real dumb to swallow this watered down, rushed matrix movie" now did I but, you on the other hand feel it's your right to not let me have my opinion and then say things like "free your mind" or "you dont get it".
Not once have you simply said "ok DV so you did'nt like it, big deal" NOT ONCE. Everything seems to be revolved around the same statement...as close as you get to saying it you always squeeze "you dont get it" in there somewhere..hehehe.
But hey that's fine I wana end this already because it bores me (and the community as well im sure) so in closing I will say I don't get it...not the movie it was to simple...just something else that Im sure you can figure out. 🤣
DV> Goodness. Do not tell me you MISSED the fact that I was, purposefully and deliberately making the “free your mind” statement to see if you know when someone is purposefully and deliberately antagonising another forumite??
I thought you were smarter than that.
But if you want to leave, fine by me. Hell is repetition, you do KNOW that, I am certain. If you want to stay. Fine by me, too. I’m sorry I cannot offer you what you want – whatever that is -
DV > "Oh, so you ARE aware of when someone is antagonising another forumite? Good to know for future references."
And I'm sure you'd miss me a lot more, than I'd miss you.
"Nice guy"? You're a HE???
But to keep this slightly ON topic: Can you supply us with the proof that Revolutions is coming out on DVD on the 6th of January? This would prove your personal theory, so I am almost CERTAIN you know.
