people, bein a guy, i'm immune to marsdens boyish charm, he's ok to play a young cyclops, but for the movie we need someone older and someone who does not cry, cyclops is tougher than that. as much as i love x-men, x2 was practically a wolverine movie with x-men as support cast, x3 needs more screen time for other characters, especially cyclops. you'd never guess he was the leader from the movies. but who can replace marsden?

Ok...I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you on that point, pr (excepting the movie being wolverine oriented...it was...oh well...the next movie is phoenix centered so cyclops will get a lot of screen time).
First off, check the scene in X2 when Cyke goes into the holding cell for magneto and they guy is like "nice shades" and he's like "Thanks"...and he stares the guy down...and then he takes out all those guards...that was badass.
Ok, and as for the crying...if your wife/fiancee basically commited suicide to save a whole bunch of other people, including yourself, you'd cry....don't tell me you wouldn't.
I'm sick of everyone being like "he's a baby because he cried"....consider the circumstances for a moment and re-watch the movie....Marsden does a GREAT job with Cyclops.

marsden is bad as cyclops, he does not have the prescence or the command that cyclops has. he practically never cries, and when he does he's only in private, because he has to stay strong for the team. but mr wolverine was so calm, it should have been other way around. as for the scene in the cell? prof x could have stared them down. wow, cyclops can fight, but deathstrike nails him, then he disappears for an hour. that is not cyclops. also, phoenix in the next movie is a bad idea, why not apocalypse or the sentinels?
as for me, i would cry of course, but there is a time and a place, not when more people are relying on you.

He definitely has the presence and command...you just fail to see it because you're blinded by the whole crying thing. Why is that even an issue? A time and a place? Who's relying on him at that moment and who do you think on that plane really BLAMED him for crying? i wouldn't.
Storm was flying and had everything under control. Jesus Christ almighty it wasn't like they were being shot at or anything. And Wolverine WASN'T calm..he was crying too.
And yes, Cyclops can fight and he fought well all things considered. Wolverine had a tough time with Lady Deathstrike and had it not been for his healing factor, he would have kicked the bucket.
And as for the cell, Professor xavier COULDN'T have stared them down or done mind things to them because he was being put to sleep with gas in the cell with magneto. As for Cyke disappearing for an hour...he was CAPTURED because they MIND HYPNOTIZED him with the control serum. Did you not watch this movie AT ALL?
I'm definitely getting the sense that you watched the movie half heartedly, not at all, or you have someone behind you telling you what to type that hasn't seen the movie or watched it half heartedly.
YOUR MISSING MY POINT. i have the movie on dvd, i've watched it many times, i've also been reading the comics since i was six. first of all, the crying is not blinding me, its just one of the points that i made. second, any1 with any training could take out some rent a cops. btw, i meant prof x BEFORE he went into the cell. all due respect, cyclops is my favourite character, and i cried when i saw marsdens performance in x2, i know its the writers as much as anything, but they've messed up the character. let me say again, cyclops is my favourite, so i want to see the best actor possible, if they can do it with professor x or wolverine, why not cyclops. fact is, marsden's just not talented enough to play cyclops, he hasn't got the presence or the ability. writing someone out of a comic for a while is fine, but its a movie, they just did that to give berry and jackman more screen time, regardles of injecting him with strykers sons brain fluid. those are my main points.
if you think i'm being blinded, that’s fine, but i think the ladies in the column will excuse marsdens short comings just cos he's nice to look at.
even though i respect your opinion, i have to disagree with you, sorry. i love cyclops as much as any of you, but not in the same way.
cyclops is and always was a reserved character when it came to displaying emotion. what i mean is that if jean died he wouldn't turn into a gibbering wreck, he'd get on eith it and grieve in private or leave. i suppose it is the writers as much as anything but i just don't like the way cyclops is portrayed i.e. his power, his personality and the fact he's in the background for most of the film.
all im saying is that, i want to see the best cyclops possible on screen, as i'm sure you do. if we disagree, then fine, were both just passionate about our view, i do respect yours though.
